The equaliser again!

Another beautiful free-kick from Leopold - this time not towards the goal, but as a cross into the centre. Virgil Ghiță rises higher than Pinckert and heads the ball into the left corner.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
According to Expected Goals, Elversberg shouldn't have even scored. Hannover has been much more threatening in front of the opposition's goal so far.

Waited too long!

Petkov is put in the spotlight again. After a pass from Condé, he dribbles slalom-like through Hannover's defensive line, who then manage to win the ball back. The Elversberg player should have looked for the finish earlier!

Unlucky fellow

Le Joncour also scored an own goal last week in Bielefeld.

Half-time! Elversberg 1-1 Hannover

A first half with very few chances comes to an end. Elversberg worked their way into the match through increased possession and took a deserved lead through Petkov. In the final minutes before the break, Hannover grew stronger and were rewarded with the equaliser. So everything is still to play for in the second half.

Enforced change

Bastian Allgeier replaces the suspended Boris Tomiak, who is out due to an accumulation of yellow cards. For Allgeier, who joined from Ulm in the summer, this is his first start in a Hannover shirt in all competitions.

Ebnoutalib only on the bench!

There are four changes following the cup defeat to Hertha. Regular starters Keidel, Le Joncour and Petkov return to the team, and Luca Schnellbacher is in the starting line-up for the first time since Matchday 3. Second division top scorer Younes Ebnoutalib (nine goals) is only on the bench.

Vincent Wagner on facing Hannover

"A very good opponent is coming, but we're not without a chance. Of course, we don't want to lose three times this week. But the opportunity is there to win every match, especially with this team."
camera-photo

Christian Titz on facing Elversberg

"The insight from the derby is that even under these circumstances, we remained consistent in the way we wanted to play. The team remained unfazed, and that gives you a certain self-confidence."

Without Blank

Hendry Blank has suffered a medial collateral ligament strain in his knee. The 21-year-old now needs to take it easy for a few days and is therefore unavailable for the match in Elversberg.
camera-photo

Familiar face

Maurice Neubauer moved to Hannover in the summer after five years at Elversberg. He went from the Regionalliga to Bundesliga 2 with them, making 165 competitive appearances. Jannik Rochelt also once played for the hosts, contributing significantly to their promotion to Bundesliga 2 in 2022/23 with 12 goals and 15 assists.

Another chance

Hannover haven't faced any other Bundesliga 2 team more often without winning once, although they're also winless in four against Werder Bremen and Zwickau.

Coincidence?

In the 4 Bundesliga 2 encounters between the two, exactly four goals were scored each time. Last season, Elversberg won 3-1 twice, while in 2023/24 there were two 2-2 draws. The game in Hannover on 29 July 2023 was Elversberg's Bundesliga 2 debut.
camera-photo

Strong record

Elversberg have not lost any of their five competitive matches against Hannover. In Bundesliga 2, they've recorded two wins and two draws. They also beat them as a fourth-tier side when Hannover were a Bundesliga club in the 2010 DFB Cup via a penalty shootout (0-0 after 120 minutes, only Mikael Forssell missed from the spot).
