Bayern's Club World Cup fixtures and results

Recap Bayern’s Club World Cup campaign below:

Bayern return home

The Bavarians left their base in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday evening and made their way back to Germany. Pre-season training for 2025/26 will start at the end of July, with the squad having around three weeks to now go on holiday and relax. Bayern's campaign will kick off with the Supercup on 16 August, before which they will face Tottenham Hotspur and Grasshoppers Zurich in friendly matches.

Musiala injury confirmed

Bayern Munich announced on Sunday that Jamal Musiala would require surgery on a fracture of the fibula associated with a broken and dislocated ankle. The 22-year-old sustained the serious injury at the end of the first half of his team's defeat against PSG. Musiala is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Neuer upbeat

Bayern captain Manuel Neuer said that there were many positives for the Bundesliga champions to take from their game against PSG and from the Club World Cup in general following the team's elimination at the quarter-final stage. "FC Bayern are a force to be reckoned with – you’ve seen that this season," the goalkeeper insisted. "This match in particular is an example, to say: now more than ever, we want to go for it in Europe again, and also be up there in the Bundesliga and DFB Cup again."
camera-photo

Kompany looking ahead

Following elimination from the Club World Cup, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said his players would look to rest up over the coming weeks ahead of their return to preparations for the 2025/26 campaign. "[On Sunday], we fly home and have three weeks off. It’s important that the boys can also mentally switch off a bit now – especially the boys who were away with their national teams. We need to regain our strength for next season.”

Müller: "We have to digest it"

"It's always tough when you lose," Müller told the Bayern club website after the final whistle. "We have to digest that first and process it. If you look at the game, it had everything. Our team played well, we held our own really well in the first half — also in terms of our tackling and pressing. That’s why PSG even took the risk out of their game in the second half. They played a lot more long balls and deliberately stopped trying to build up play from the back."
camera-photo

Müller bows out

Thomas Müller's long goodbye at Bayern came to an end. The 35-year-old attacker came on in the 78th minute with the team 1-0 down but was unable to find an equaliser. Out of contract at the end of July, this was his final competitive game for his boyhood club.
camera-photo

Game overshadowed by Musiala injury

The match was marred by a serious-looking ankle injury to Bayern playmaker Jamal Musiala on the stroke of half-time following a collision with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. "It was a difficult situation at half-time," said head coach Vincent Kompany afterwards. "You just feel powerless when something like this happens."
camera-photo

Heading home

Bayern dominated for large spells of their quarter-final tie against PSG in Atlanta on Saturday but ultimately slipped to a 2-0 defeat that sends them out of the tournament.
camera-photo

Kompany on Musiala

Bayern's Jamal Musiala has had his injury problems of late and coach Vincent Kompany will have a decision to make as to whether the 22-year-old starts against PSG. "We’ll see what his role will be," the coach explained. "But he has trained over the last few days and is taking the right steps.”
camera-photo

Keen King Kane

Harry Kane has netted three tournament goals at this FIFA Club World Cup to date and Bayern's star striker sounded a warning to today's opponents PSG ahead of a quarter-final meeting against the current European champions. “We know their qualities and have to be prepared," the English marksman said, before adding, "We can beat any opponents if we’re in top form."
camera-photo

Bayern in bullish mood

"Paris are undoubtedly one of the best teams in Europe, but we're FC Bayern. We don’t need to hide from anyone," Bayern president Herbert Hainer told the club website on Friday. Captain Manuel Neuer added: "They certainly won't be looking forward to playing us."

Rest in peace

Prior to the day's training session, Bayern players and staff paid their respects to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically died in a road accident in Spain on Thursday. Liverpool forward Jota recently helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League, while his sibling was on the books of Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel.

Müller: "Maybe I could end my career"

In an interview with CBS Sports, Thomas Müller revealed he could retire should he not find the right club after his time at Bayern comes to an end following their Club World Cup campaign. He said, "I want to figure it [the future] out in the next couple of weeks. But if there is not the perfect solution for me, maybe I will decide to end my career. Let’s see what happens. I try to feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations as well."

Training intensifies

No days off for Bayern's youngsters

Whilst Tuesday was largely a rest day for the senior squad ahead of their quarter-final clash with PSG, Bayern youngsters Lennart Karl, Cassiano Kiala, and David Santos Daiber (l.-r.) had no such luxury. The three U18s all have exams approaching and have been in the classroom every day of Bayern's Club World Cup campaign, except matchdays.

Bayern players recovering well

After the tough game against Flamengo, the Bayern players have had a slow start to this week with a few light sessions and the opportunities to have a go at a few other sports they enjoy. Bayern have shared a number of photos on their website of the players playing table tennis and golf, amongst other sports, at their Orlando base.

Looking ahead to pre-season

Despite Bayern still being active in the Club World Cup, preparations are already underway for the start of pre-season in just a few weeks. Bayern have now announced that they will be playing a friendly against Swiss club, Grasshoppers Zürich on 12 August at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich. The same fixture took place during pre-season last year with Bayern coming away 4-0 winners.

Bayern's new number 10

With the departure of Sané, it has been announced that Musiala will take over his old number 10 shirt ahead of the new season. However, Musiala will continue to wear his old 42 shirt until the end of the Club World Cup. Bayern have also revealed that any fan wishing to purchase a shirt with Musiala's new number will be able to take up a special offer of free printing when purchasing a jersey for the 2025/26 season, either online or in Bayern stores on 1 and 2 July.

Vincent Kompany provides Coman update

After the Frenchman left the field just before the hour mark through injury, the Bayern boss provided an update on the speedy winger's situation: "Hopefully it's not that bad. We'll see, a week is obviously very short".

Back at base camp

The squad have now returned to Orlando, where they'll recover before resuming preparations for PSG.

Leroy Sané gave his thought after playing his final match for Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup last-16 victory over Flamengo.

Sané departs Bayern

Following the end of his contract, the winger departs Bayern for Galatasaray after five years at the club. "I wish the team, Vinnie, the staff and the entire club only the best," he said. "They're simply great guys and great players. That's what sets the boys apart. The atmosphere is very good. They're a real unit."

Next stop: Atlanta

A new round of fixtures means a new location for Bayern, who will travel to Atlanta for their quarter-final clash with Paris Saint-Germain, the same location where Bundesliga rivals Dortmund will take on Monterrey for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Neuer enjoying himself

“It’s fun playing against Brazilian teams, they also wanted to have the ball. We had the luck on our side at the start but you always have to be alert against these teams. They threw a lot in attack. We tried to keep playing our game and creating chances. We had that killer instinct which was lacking a bit against Benfica. That’s crucial if you want to progress. We move on and go into the next round against PSG. We know what we’re up against, we’ll analyse this match and hopefully have good momentum.”
camera-photo

Bayern's work rate praised by Kompany

"We started very well, pressed very high and got success. Flamengo are a team who would also be a top team in Europe. They stayed in the game for a long time. We did a lot right and now we’re in the next round. We always have to take into account the conditions. After 20 minutes I was wondering if we could keep it up for 90 minutes. The team found the right tempo. It’s important to remain a threat against opponents like these, and we did that throughout the whole match."

"Electric… the intensity of the game was ferocious," Bayern's head coach told DAZN from inside Hard Rock Stadium. "We're happy to go to the next round."

Kane at the double!

Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern beat Flamengo 4-2 in Miami. Leon Goretzka was also on target in a hugely competitive contest that the Bundesliga champions led from the sixth minute following Erick Pulgar's own goal. Kompany's side will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, the UEFA Champions League holders having earlier thrashed Inter Miami 4-0 in their last-16 tie.

Bayern legend Rafinha looking forward to Flamengo clash

“Of course both clubs have a big place in my heart. I’m looking forward to this top match. I was at Bayern for much longer, eight and a half years. I have very good friends at both clubs, but my best amigos are at Bayern. I played together with Manu for 14 years, he’s my best friend in football.”
camera-photo

Kompany greets the press

Vincent Kompany shared his thoughts with the media ahead of tonight's showdown against Flamengo, and when pushed on who were favourites for the game, the Bayern coach said, "How is it possible to know who are favourites between two teams who have never played against each other before? The most important thing for me is the message that we portray on the pitch, and that is that Bayern always want to win, but I know for Flamengo it's the same."

Müller enjoying his time stateside

In that same interview, Bayern's No. 25 provided some insight as to what the players get up to during their downtime at the Club World Cup, saying: "the club has provided everything: table tennis, we can go swimming, we have cornhole, quizzes, we can play darts. We keep ourselves busy as a group - we play little games with each other. The golf course is right next door, so there's enough things for me to do in my free time to fulfil this child-like instinct to play that I have."
camera-photo

Thomas Müller earmarks his CWC favourites

Speaking in an interview with DAZN, Bayern's record appearance maker highlighted a certain French team as the favourites to win the competition, saying: "Paris Saint-Germain are Champions League winners, they are currently the best horse in the European stable and yet they are still beatable. It's the same with us. I think everyone who analyses us and everyone who faces us knows what to expect and that they're in for a lot of trouble when they play us and yet we're still beatable, because that's just the beauty of football - anything is possible."
camera-photo

Musiala to return?

The Bayern playmaker (pictured, c.) was an unused substitute in the team's last game against Benfica on Tuesday as he recovered from a knock sustained against Boca Juniors. He's looked sharp during the drills and exercises in training though, so could well be an option for the starting line-up on Sunday.
camera-photo

Kompany's view of Flamengo

“They have a good mix," the head coach told the official club website. "On the one hand, they have great individual quality, and on top of that, they bring incredible emotion to the game. When they defend, they all defend together; when they attack, everyone goes forward. We’re going all in for the match and want to carry the momentum from the second half of the Benfica game with us.”

Training on Friday

Bayern are back at their HQ in Fort Lauderdale, meaning they won't have far to travel for Sunday's last-16 showdown against Flamengo in Miami. After warming up on the exercise bikes and with some stretching in the gym, the players took to the pitch for training proper.

Second place leads to a first

Bayern's round of 16 clash with Flamengo will be the first time the sides have ever met, adding even more intrigue to their upcoming meeting with Filipe Luís' side. Under the guidance of the former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea full-back, Flamengo have won a Brazilian Cup, Brazilian Supercup and the Carioca Cup.
camera-photo

Flamengo up next

That defeat to Benfica means Bayern finish as runners up to the Portuguese side in their group, and will therefore face Flamengo in the round of 16. The side from Brazil topped their group consisting of Chelsea, LAFC and Espérance Tunis.
camera-photo

"We definitely have to analyse the first half critically" - Neuer

Likewise, Manuel Neuer acknowledged the team's shortcomings in the first half against Benfica, but highlighted their ability to create chances despite the defeat: "We didn't show the same intensity in the first half as we did in the second. Obviously, we failed to score from several opportunities and the goalkeeper did a great job as well. We definitely have to analyse the first half critically. However, what we showed in the second half, that was Bayern Munich."
camera-photo

"First half not good enough" - Kompany

Bayern's head coach admits his team's showing in the first 45 of the 1-0 loss to Benfica "wasn't good enough", but was pleased with their response after the restart. "We were much improved and did enough to score one, two, three goals," he said, before acknowledging playing in the 36C heat was "always going to be a challenge".
camera-photo

Back to Miami

The good news for Bayern is that their last-16 tie will take place at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, where they beat Boca and which is only a one-hour flight from their base city of Orlando. That one will kick-off at 4pm local/ 10pm CEST on Sunday.

Bayern beaten by Benfica

Kompany's team went down 1-0 to the Portuguese giants, despite a dominant second-half showing in sweltering Charlotte. They finish second in Group C, setting up a last-16 meeting with Flamengo of Brazil.

Kompany on the high temperatures expected in Charlotte

"It's obviously a factor. It can influence a game, but it's the same for both teams. It's not the same as a Champions League game in winter. We'll plan for it and not be surprised by the heat," the Belgian said of the current heat advisory in North Carolina, with temperatures set to reach 40 Celsius by kick-off on Tuesday.
camera-photo

Kompany talks Benfica

"We've played them before, know them well. It's always special when we play against teams who are dominant in their league. When they then play against teams like us, they often play with a mix of what they normally do and an approach that's adapted for the opponent."

A busy day

It's a typically busy pre-match day for Bayern ahead of tomorrow's final group game. Kompany's men will train one last time in Orlando in the morning before an afternoon flight north to Charlotte. Once on the ground in North Carolina, the coach and some players will head to the Bank of America Stadium for pre-match interviews and the press conference. For fans, there's another pub takeover at Clutch Kitchen & Pour House just round the corner from the ground.

Injury updates

There were concerns over Musiala's availability after Bayern's No. 42 hobbled off the pitch to be substituted late on in the record champions' 2-1 victory over Boca Juniors, but the German international took part in full team training on Sunday. Alongside him, Minjae Kim was also present as he continues to work his way back from an achilles issue sustained in the back end of the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign.
camera-photo

Flawless group stage record the aim

After completing warm-ups and fitness drills, the ball was introduced with the Bayern players going through match scenarios. There was to be no slacking off, as, for coach Vincent Kompany, a win against Benfica remains important - despite having already qualified for the next round of the tournament - for it allows his team to “go into the knockout stages with momentum”.
camera-photo

Benfica preparations

The Bayern squad once again took to the training pitch to ready themselves for their final group stage match against Benfica on Tuesday. The session also served to acclimatise the players to the conditions, training in ~30 degree temperatures at their base in Orlando, Florida.

Potential opponents in the knockout rounds

Bayern are already assured of a place in the last 16, but depending on whether they go through as Group C winners or runners-up, they can face one of three teams from Group D in the next round: Flamengo, Chelsea or Espérance de Tunisie.

Recovery day

Following their exertions against Boca on Friday night local time, the Bayern squad have had a quiet day today to rest and recover ahead of their final group game against Benfica on Tuesday.

Watch: Highlights from Bayern's Boca win

"It was just a fun game"

On the Bayern right along with Michael Olise, Konrad Laimer described the game against Boca as an enjoyable one. "It was just a fun game today. That’s exactly what the Club World Cup is for: to play against clubs like this, it’s just something different," said the versatile Austrian midfielder. "There’s a bit more fire in it sometimes, also a bit more provocation from one or two, but on the whole it was a very decent performance from us."
camera-photo

Neuer underlines Bayern's endurance and looks ahead

Bayern statesman Neuer praised the team's reaction to Boca's equaliser. "We took the wind out of their sails a bit in the first half. Their goal then gave the crowd a lift and it got really loud, but we held our nerve and didn’t let ourselves get fazed. We go into the match against Benfica with a good feeling. We want to put in another good performance there and get the three points."
camera-photo

Kompany pleased with Bayern performance against Boca

The Belgian tactician was happy with the team's determination to get the job done. "We had to work a lot today but we got the job done – we’re in the last 16 and I’m really pleased about that. You saw how tough it is for European teams to play against South American sides. I think we did it really well. We controlled the emotions in the game"
camera-photo

Bayern reach knockouts!

Harry Kane and Michael Olise were on target as Bayern secured their spot in the round of 16 with a workmanlike win over Boca Juniors. Kane scored the only goal of a one-sided first half, before Boca hit back through Miguel Merentiel's brilliant solo effort with 66 minutes gone. Vincent Kompany lost substitute Jamal Musiala to injury, but the Bundesliga champions found a way as Kane teed up Olise for a well-taken winner. Bayern advance and will seal top spot in Group C if they avoid defeat to Benfica on 24 June.

Gnabry ready to fight against Boca

"I'm a big fan of Boca. It's going be loud and a great game," said Bayern forward Serge Gnabry ahead of Bayern's second Group C fixture. "You don't often have games like this at European level, where the opponent is so aggressive, but we have to hold our own and concentrate on our game."

Matchday -1 action

The time difference to Europe may confuse things a bit, but Thursday is the eve of Bayern's second group game against Boca Juniors. They'll be holding a training session in Orlando in the morning before heading to Fort Lauderdale mid-afternoon. Musiala scored 12 Bundesliga goals in 2024/25, despite missing the last month or so of the season through injury. The 22-year-old's hat-trick from the bench against Auckland showed how Bayern needn't worry about any ring rust.

Recovery day

Bayern flew straight back to their base in Orlando after Sunday's game, arriving home in the evening. Monday is about recovery, so there's no training scheduled. The players may spend a bit of time in the gym and do what they need to be ready in time for Friday's second match in Miami - a much shorter trip.

Eberl pleased with spectacle

Müller praises magnificent showing

The departing Bayern legend said: "We played well. We put in a serious performance and played with intensity. We didn't allow anything to happen. After every goal, we pressed on and looked for another. We therefore deserved to win by this margin."
camera-photo

Kompany satisfied

The Bayern boss was delighted with how his team opened up against a defensive Auckland side to pick up their first win of these finals. "We couldn’t have done much more today," the Belgian said. "We played really seriously and did what we had to do. Goal difference might end up being important in this group."
camera-photo

Tah looking ahead

After making a successful competitive debut for Bayern in which he provided an assist for the opening goal of the tournament, Jonathan Tah was quickly looking ahead to Bayern's upcoming group rivals Boca Juniors and Benfica after Sunday's resounding win against Auckland City. "You can’t overstate this game," the defender insisted. "We have to remain clear in our minds and know that the opponents will get stronger. We need to step things up again.”
camera-photo

A mix of old and new

Although Müller will be leaving Bayern after this tournament, he showed he still has that knack for being in the right place with his double. The game also saw the return of a couple of players from injury, including Upamecano and Musiala, who will both be happy to be getting minutes under their belts again. Tah also made his Bayern debut and even assisted the opener in what was a pleasing debut for the new man.
camera-photo

Youngsters given the chance to shine

Although Kompany started the game with a very strong 11, the second half saw opportunities for Bayern's youngsters to make an impact. 17-year-old Lennart Karl (centre) entered the fray at half-time and looked lively throughout on the right wing as he sought to cut inside to create opportunities. Although he didn't score, the teenager showed flashes of the brilliance that has got Bayern fans so excited, including a magical roulette turn to beat his man inside the box. Aznou was also given a few minutes towards the end of the game, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Valladolid in Spain.

Five Bayern goalscorers in Cincinnati

Musiala proved the star of the show on his return from injury as he bagged a hat-trick off the bench to add to doubles from Coman, Olise and Müller, who scored his 250th Bayern goal. Boey also got on the scoresheet. In scoring his hat-trick, Musiala became just the fifth player to score a hat-trick at a Club World Cup.

Rampant Bayern put 10 past Auckland City in record victory

Bayern started their Club World Cup Campaign with a dominant display against Oceania Champions, Auckland City FC, as the German side won 10-0, a record result for the competition. Vincent Kompany fielded a strong starting 11, and from the first minute, Bayern had complete control of the game, only allowing their opponents one shot on goal. A total of five players got on the scoresheet as Tah made his debut, youngsters got minutes, and players returned from injury. It was a very successful outing for the German Champions. Bayern will next face Boca Juniors on the 20th.
camera-photo

Kompany's Bayern are "full of belief"

"You always have the highest goals at Bayern. Real, PSG, Manchester City but also Boca Juniors and other teams have the same goal," said Kompany, reflecting on Bayern's aims at the Club World Cup. "We want to go into the tournament full of belief. It's about details. You need to believe you'll always get your moment."
camera-photo

No Musiala, no problem?

With Jamal Musiala continuing to recover from his hamstring injury, Kompany discussed the prospect of Michael Olise in the number 10 spot. "Michael can also play as a No.10. Last season he was one of the best players out wide. We need to see what's best for the team. We've had discussions about things. When he's needed in the middle, he plays in the middle. When he's needed out wide, he plays out wide."
camera-photo

Kompany on Sané

"The important thing was the signal from Leroy that he wanted to be here. We'll use everything we can to achieve our goals," said the Bayern boss. "It's the business of football, which ultimately doesn't play too much of a role for the group. First of all, we have to win our group games. To do that, we have to set ourselves up in such a way that we have players who can pose a threat every minute. Leroy finished the season strongly for us."
camera-photo

Homework on Auckland and New Zealand football

The Bayern coach is man for details and has left no stone unturned in preparation for their game against Auckland City. "It's tough to judge how the levels compare. But it doesn't change how we prepare. The story will be that they're a semi-professional team. We've seen how they play in important games. Obviously it was interesting to see the conditions in some of their matches. But they're well organised. Their runs and activity on the pitch are good. But we're focused on ourselves."

We're excited for the game and what the tournament can bring."

Saturday's plans

With the full squad now in Orlando, Bayern will have a training session this morning before making their way up to Cincinnati, Ohio. Along with Tah, Bayern's Tom Bischof was also presented to the media and the midfielder spoke of his delight to be part of the set-up for the FIFA Club World Cup. "I want to settle in well, turn in awesome performances and win titles with the team," the arrival from Hoffenheim explained. "I'm fired up to attack and play with the lads. They're great players, it's really fun."

"I feel ready" - Tah

Germany international Tah also spoke fondly of a decade spent at Bayer Leverkusen, where he won a Bundesliga and DFB Cup double in 2023/24. "For me, it's about getting out of my comfort zone. I was in the same place, at the same club [Leverkusen] for 10 years, and I can only say good things about them," the 29-year-old said. "But I had to [move to] grow both on and off the pitch. I'm in for a lot of challenges, I'm looking forward to them and I feel ready for them," Bayern's new man added.

Touchdown Jonathan Tah!

Bayern's new signing is well and truly in the FCB zone having completed his first training session for his new side in Orlando and now being unveiled at a press conference at the team's Club World Cup base in the United States. "It's definitely a big step; the expectations are higher, everything's bigger," the defender said.

Fresh from UEFA Nations League and FIFA World Cup qualifiers, the first of Bayern's senior international players have now also made it to Orlando. Max Eberl talks Club World Cup goals

"When you're Bayern Munich and take part in a tournament, it's always about being as successful as possible," said Bayern's board member for sport on Thursday. "We don't really know what to expect yet. Other teams are more familiar with the conditions. We're trying to prepare as best we can and naturally want to progress as far as possible. But it's a bit of a journey into the unknown. It's exciting for all of us, of course we're here to win the games and progress as far as possible."

Bayern confirm Sané transfer

Leroy Sané has signed for Galatasaray, but will still be available to play for Bayern at the Club World Cup until his existing deal expires on 30 June. After the 29-year-old shared via his X account (formerly Twitter) that he is leaving the club, Bayern confirmed his move to Galatasaray on a three-year contract, beginning 1 July, meaning the 29-year-old forward can still represent the record champions in the Club World Cup group stage and potentially round of 16.

Singh recalls Bayern days

To this day, Auckland-born Sarpreet Singh is the only New Zealander to have represented Bayern Munich. The now 26-year-old joined the record champions' reserves in 2019, before making a couple of Bundesliga appearances under Hansi Flick. He also turned out for Nuremberg, Jahn Regensburg and Hansa Rostock. "I just lived in the moment," Singh, who currently plays in Portugal's second tier with Leiria, told the Bayern website. "I know today that it was a huge honour - for me and also for my family. It's something you can only dream of."

Neuer on "special" Club World Cup

Manuel Neuer has also been speaking to the Bayern media team about the team's laser-focus on lifting the trophy. “It’s special to be here," said Neuer. "We're going into the tournament to play successful football. And accordingly, we obviously want to challenge for the title too. I think in a few years we’ll see what significance this tournament format has.”

Müller not joking around

All jokes aside, Müller is deadly serious about ending his Bayern journey on a high, telling the club's website: “We're basically going into the tournament to win matches – and that starts with the first match, of course. The spirit is laid down, the coach has also left no questions there. He's made it clear: we want to win the thing.”

Bayern's very own Goofy...

When in Orlando

Master and apprentice

Musiala is looking in great shape as he prepares to make his injury comeback this weekend. The Bayern playmaker - for so long seen as Müller's long-term successor at the club - has been out of action since early April with a muscular issue. He still ended the 2024/25 campaign with 18 goals and eight assists across 40 competitive games, though. In terms of goals scored, the 22-year-old has never been so prolific.

Bayern are taking 29 players to the USA, featuring goalkeepers Manuel Neuer, Jonas Urbig, Daniel Peretz and Leon Klanac. The likes of Jamal Musiala, Dayot Upamecano and Minjae Kim, who missed the final weeks of the season with injury, are included, alongside new signings Jonathan Tah (No.4) and Tom Bischof (No.20). Eric Dier, who is joining Monaco for the new season, isn't involved.

The path to glory

Musiala back in training

Bayern's No. 42 was spotted back in team training with the champions as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury sustained in Bayern's 3-1 win at Augsburg on 5 April. The midfield maestro is set to be fully fit again in time for Bayern's first game against Auckland City on 15 June.

Training at Disney World

The Bayern players returned to team training on 5 June after a brief holiday break to prepare for the Club World Cup. Just five days later on 10 June, Vincent Kompany's team will fly to the United States. There, the Bavarians will be based at their camp at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, which is part of Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Squad selection surprises

Bayern have recalled two loan players early - Adam Aznou (from Real Valladolid) and Maurice Krattenmacher (from Ulm) - in order to take them to the Club World Cup. However, it remains uncertain whether the two new summer signings Jonathan Tah (from Leverkusen) and Tom Bischof (from Hoffenheim) will be registered in time to participate with their new club.

Registration deadlines

FIFA have created an additional transfer window for the Club World Cup in which clubs can register players. The squad lists for the tournament must be submitted by 10 June. By then, it will be clear which players will be travelling to the USA. If no agreement can be reached regarding a early transfers before then, participating clubs will also be able to replace and add players during a restricted in-competition period from 27 June to 3 July within a set limit and according to specific limitations, according to FIFA's rulings.

A Klassiker on the cards?

With both Bayern and Dortmund playing in the Club World Cup, there is potential for another instalment of Der Klassiker. However, the earliest the two Bundesliga teams can meet is in the semi-finals, and that's only if one finishes first and the other second in their respective groups. If both finish first or both finish second, the would be unable to meet one another before the final.

Going the distance

After the group stage, the top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout phase, which will commence with the round of 16. The round of 16 will take place from 28 June to 1 July, followed by the quarter-finals on 4 and 5 July and the semi-finals on 8 and 9 July. The grand final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will kick off on 13 July at 9pm CET.
