Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer and Minjae Kim forced out of Bayern Munich's friendly against RB Leipzig
Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer and Minjae Kim were all forced off the pitch during Bayern Munich's 3-1 friendly win against RB Leipzig on Saturday.
Just a few minutes after scoring in soaring temperatures in Munich to make it 3-1 against RB Leipzig, there was a worrying moment for Bayern when Musiala collapsed on the pitch without any apparent contact with another player.
Team-mate Ismael Saibari rushed over and managed to catch the Germany international just before he hit the pitch, while Joshua Kimmich also raced to his side.
Bayern’s medical staff quickly entered the pitch, and a stretcher was brought out. However, after several minutes of treatment, Musiala was able to get back to his feet and leave the field with the aid of the team doctor.
After the game, board member for sport Max Eberl provided an update on Musiala's condition, even if an official medical assessment is yet to be confirmed: “The most important thing is that he’s doing well.”
There was more bad news for Vincent Kompany's charges earlier in the game.
After a challenge, Konrad Laimer grabbed his right thigh, received treatment and was then substituted off.
He was at least able to provide some relief to Bayern fans on Monday by saying: "Ulle [Sven Ulreich] and I were just in the weights room today. Everything’s fine, I took a knock – but it’s no big deal, I should be back to normal soon."
Minjae Kim was also unable to finish the match. The centre-back sat down on the pitch in the second half and received treatment on his thigh before Hiroki Ito came on in his place.
The extent of his injury is also unclear at this stage, though the centre-back was able to take part in full team training as part of the Bavarians' FC Bayern Allianz Team Day on Monday, and may well yet feature in the friendly against Heidenheim on Tuesday.
