Full-time: Gladbach 3-1 Cologne

Gladbach manage to hold their lead over Cologne to claim all three points in the Rhine Derby at Borussia-Park, with what is the Foals' third consecutive victory in all competitions. Eugen Polanski's side flew out of the gates in the second half, thanks to goals from Diks and Tabaković, and though Cologne did try to mount a comeback, courtesy of Waldschmidt's converted spot-kick, it was too little, too late for the Billygoats.

Final chance?

Maina floats a cross into the Gladbach box from just inside the Foals' half. Sebulonsen hits it on the volley, but his effort is blocked. Another Cologne effort is blocked before a chipped ball finds Ache's head, but the substitute can only steer it wide.

Wide from Bülter

Sebulonsen fires an inviting cross in from the right, finding Bülter at the far post. The striker meets the ball in the air, but his header flies narrowly wide.

Reitz withdrawn

The Foals' captain leaves the field to rapturous applause as he is replaced late on by Fraulo here.

Waldschmidt converts!

The substitute steps up to take the penalty, smashing it home into the top right corner to reduce arrears. The Billygoats have 10 minutes to pull off what would be a remarkable comeback. Can they do it..?

Wondergoal disallowed!

A long ball up from the back is played to Ache, who heads it down into the path of Waldschmidt. The substitute goes it alone, hitting a stunning volley from at least 30 yards which loops over Nicolas and nestles in the back of the net. However, it won't stand, as the flag had been raised for an offside against Ache.
84'

Too intricate

Reitz, Tabaković, Machino and Reyna all combine superbly on the edge of the Cologne box. They move the ball around between themselves really confidently but none of them opt to pull the trigger and eventually, enough Cologne defenders get back to snuff out the danger.
80'

Game plan seems to have worked

Gladbach have been more than happy to sit off at home, absorbing pressure before launching quick counter-attacks, which have worked exceptionally well for the Foals.

Double change

Eugen Polanski makes two substitutions with 15 minutes of normal time to play here. Reyna and Machino are introduced for Neuhaus and Honorat, who leaves the field to a big ovation from the home fans for his output this evening, which inluded assisting the Foals' third goal.

Tempers flare

Diks makes a stunning recovery challenge on Jóhannesson on the edge of his box and everything boils over. The referee is just taking his time in calming everyone down before play can resume.

The substitute rises highest to meet a corner from the left with his head, but he can only guide the ball into the arms of Nicolas.

Almost a response

Cologne don't seem disheartened after conceding a third. Immediately up the other end, Kamiński aims a shot towards the top right corner from the edge of the box, his effort smacking off the woodwork.

Tabaković makes it three!

The Foals have got their tails up now! This time, Honorat wins the ball on the right flank. He drives up the pitch before slipping Tabaković through at the far post for a tap-in past Schwäbe. Gladbach are in dreamland!

Bülter has Nicolas worried

Up the other end, a cross from the left is met on the volley by Bülter, who flicks the ball goalwards with his heel. It's a good effort, but ultimately lands on the roof of the net.
48'

Had to get there!

Neuhaus picks his head up and spots Honorat unmarked in behind the Cologne defence at the half-way line. He releases him with a fine through pass, but Schwäbe is quick off his line and times his tackle to perfection to prevent what would've been a certain goal else.
46'

Cologne get the ball rolling for the 45 minutes of this Rhine Derby. Kwasniok opted for two changes at half-time as his side chase this one-goal deficit: Ache and Sebulonsen are introduced for El Mala and Kainz.

Half-time: Gladbach 1-0 Cologne

So, it's the Foals who head in at the interval of this Rhine Derby with a slender one-goal lead, thanks to Sander's late opener. After a cagey first half, the final stages were played at breakneck speed, and though Tabaković squandered his opportunity from the spot, neither Gladbach players nor fans will be too bothered.

Sander breaks the deadlock!

From the resultant corner, the ball pings around the Cologne box, with the Billygoats unable to clear it properly. Eventually, it falls to Sander, who smashes home from the edge of the box with an emphatic strike on the half-volley. Blocked by his teammate

Playing on the last shoulder

Gladbach have tried to play Honorat in behind with searching balls in the opening 20 minutes here. However, so far, the Cologne defence has managed to track these runs and deny the Frenchman much space.

El Mala shoots

A good Cologne move is worked to El Mala on the edge of the box. The young winger opens up his body and lets an effort fly, but it's straight at Nicolas, who smothers the attempt.
16'

Neuhaus tests Schwäbe

The midfielder cuts in off the left flank and curls an inviting cross towards the far post. It finds no takers but bounces just before the Cologne keeper, forcing Schwäbe to pull of a great reaction save. That was creeping in...
15'

Almost for Honorat

An opportunity for a counter-attack opens up for Gladbach. Tabaković tries to play Honorat in behind, who is one-on-one with Schmied. However, the forward puts just too much on it, and Honorat loses out in the foot race.
14'

In from Kainz

The No.11 takes the resultant free-kick, whipping a dangerous cross towards the far post. However, Sander is there to head it clear.

Bülter fires low

Jóhannesson slips Bülter through into the Gladbach penalty area. From a tight angle and with not much space for a shot, the forward aims towards the near post, catching Nicolas somewhat off guard with a snapshot. Nevertheless, the keeper gets down well to tip it round the post, conceding a corner which the Billygoats don't manage to take advantage of.
8'

Reitz gives Cologne a warning

Gladbach's captain pounces on a loose pass in the middle of the park and immediately looks to drive towards the visitors' goal. It's a good run and he nutmegs his marker along the way, but eventually he finds himself swarmed by three defenders and loses possession.
5'

Gladbach coming to life

After a timid opening couple of minutes, the Foals are beginning to express themselves. Most recently, Honorat got to the byline from where he tried to tee up Reitz. Martel got in the way and the hosts screamed for a penalty for handball, but the referee correctly dismissed the protests.
3'

In from Reitz

After chasing Cologne in the opening stages, Gladbach win the ball back and immediately look to launch a counter-attack. Ullrich finds Reitz with a fantastic switch of play, with the latter trying to pick out Honorat with a cross on the volley. However, Cologne recover and head the ball clear.
