Borussia Dortmund are aiming to take a big step towards automatic qualification for the UEFA Champions League last 16 when they welcome Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt to Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday (kick-off: 9pm CET).

One of five teams currently on 10 points, Dortmund occupy sixth place in the 36-team league-phase table. They have found the net four times in four of their five matches so far, losing only to Manchester City in early November.

Niko Kovač's team were beaten by Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Cup last week but go into their first-ever meeting with Bodø/Glimt on the back of an impressive 2-0 victory over in-form Hoffenheim, who had been on a six-match unbeaten Bundesliga run prior to Sunday's visit to Signal Iduna Park.

Centre-back Niklas Süle is Dortmund's only confirmed absentee as he continues his recovery from a toe injury. At the other end of the pitch, striker Serhou Guirassy - the Champions League's joint-top scorer in 2024/25 - will look to pick up where he left off last time out against Villarreal, having scored twice in a resounding 4-0 victory over the Yellow Submarine.

Bodø/Glimt have yet to taste victory in the league phase but Lady Luck has not always been on their side. The four-time Eliteserien winners conceded late in a 2-2 draw at home to 2024 UEFA Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur, and in a 3-2 defeat to Italian giants Juventus. Kjetil Knutsen's side head to Dortmund four points adrift of the knockout phase play-off places.

Dortmund dismiss Hoffenheim

The Black and Yellows ended Hoffenheim's great run on Sunday with goals from Julian Brandt and Nico Schlotterbeck. Dortmund are now unbeaten in six league matches.

Bodø/Glimt lose Viking battle

The Norwegians had a week off as their domestic season concluded at the end of November. Despite a 5-0 final day win over Fredrikstad, Glimt were beaten to the title for the first time in three seasons - finishing just a point behind winners Viking. They were still awarded silver medals though as runners-up.

Familiar face

Visiting forward Jens Petter Hauge was previously on the books of Eintracht between 2021 and 2025, joining Bodø/Glimt this summer on a permanent deal.

Head-to-head

These two sides have not previously faced off. However, Dortmund have played Norwegian sides on six occasions, winning four. They have lost just once, to Rosenborg in 1999 (3-0). That same year, Bodø/Glimt played Werder Bremen in the first round of the UEFA Cup, losing 6-1 on aggregate.

Bodø/Glimt - the story so far

In their maiden appearance in the tournament proper, Bodø/Glimt have learned the hard way just how tough things can be at this level. They currently have two points their name from five matches, conceding 11 goals. They have scored seven, though, and have threatened offensively, so Dortmund will have to be on their toes.

Dortmund - the story so far

After five games, Dortmund are in a strong position to progress to the last 16. They currently sit in sixth, having won three games and drawn the other. The loss to Man City was a disappointment, but only PSG have scored more than their 17 league phase goals so far.
