Yan Couto leaves Borussia Dortmund for Como

Yan Couto has left Borussia Dortmund for Como on loan for the 2026/27 season.

Couto, 24, made 62 competitive appearances for Dortmund over the last two seasons, having first joined on loan from Manchester City in 2024 before completing a full transfer 12 months later.

However, for the most part, he has struggled to get past Julian Ryerson on the right of BVB’s defence, only playing 19 Bundesliga games last term and not completing 90 minutes since February.

The Brazilian full-back, who has four senior caps for the Seleção, will now spend 2026/27 with Cesc Fàbregas’ Como, who finished fourth in Serie A last season to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

Couto has also played in Spain for Girona but never made a competitive appearance in England for Man City.

Dortmund will also be competing in the Champions League once again in the coming campaign. They return to action on 22 August in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup at home to Bayern Munich before kicking off their Bundesliga challenge against Hamburg the following weekend.

Their pre-season has included a tour to Japan, plus upcoming friendlies against Arsenal and Roma.
