Davies was introduced for the start of the second half in Bergamo. The Canada international set up Bayern's fifth goal, before being helped from the field in the 71st minute.

Substitute goalscorer Jamal Musiala and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, himself deputising for the injured Manuel Neuer, also picked up knocks towards the end of the 6-1 win.

"Jamal Musiala's injury is the least serious; it was more of a precautionary measure. Phonzy Davies' is unfortunately another muscular issue. I'm not sure about Jonas Urbig; he was a bit dazed and had a headache," revealed Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl after the game.

Davies was making his first appearance after two weeks on the sidelines with a torn thigh muscle fibre. He also missed the back end of 2024/25 and first portion of the current campaign with an ACL tear. The 25-year-old has been restricted to 13 competitive appearances all season.

With the 2025/26 campaign reaching its business end, Bayern are comfortably clear at the top of the Bundesliga, and in contention for Champions League and DFB Cup gold.

Davies will also hope to be involved when Canada co-host the FIFA 2026 World Cup from 11 June to 19 July.
