Full-time: Gladbach 0-3 Augsburg

Take a bow Alexis Claude-Maurice. The Augsburg attacker netted an impressive second-half treble to lift the visitors at Borussia-Park. It was goalkeeper Jonas Omlin's 28th-minute sending off for the hosts that swayed this encounter, however, with the Foals eventually running out of gallop a man down.

Flawless Claude-Maurice

As we all know, Germans like their hat-tricks scored without interruption. Alexis Claude-Maurice's treble today fit that description, with no goals from any other player coming in between his three goals. That makes the French attacker the first player to score a 'flawless' hat-trick for Augsburg in the Bundesliga.

Three and easy

Augsburg's top scorer takes a couple of touches across the Gladbach box to work himself some space for the shot. He sits Weigl on his backside before pinging a shot into the corner of the net. Game, set and match.

Augsburg have daylight

It's that man again! Augsburg work the corner to Claude-Maurice, who once again is all on his own. He shoots low from the edge of the area and the ball skims under Sippel's foot and lifts into the net. Could the keeper have done better there? Maybe, but Augsburg won't care.

Half-time: Gladbach 0-0 Augsburg

Jonas Omlin's first-half sending off for a foul on Phillip Tietz has failed to stem the end-to-end nature from this game. Both sides have had decent chances to hit the front in a highly-entertaining contest, but we await the breakthrough in an encounter that had a delayed start due to traffic congestion.

Jess Thorup on facing Gladbach

"They're playing well at the moment and on a good run. Saturday won't be an easy game for us. It's about maintaining the momentum and winning the next game. The Leipzig game was a clear improvement for me, overall, there was more in it for us. It's nice that we were able to show that we can also get points against a top five team."

Gerardo Seoane on facing Augsburg

"They're a very robust opponent, physically and tactically strong. So it isn't going to be easy to create scoring chances. We saw it in the away game earlier this season – we had a lot more of the ball but we struggled to work it into dangerous areas. I expect more of the same this time around."

Early team news

Gerardo Seoane will be without Franck Honorat, Rocco Reitz and Moritz Nicolas for this clash. Augsburg, meanwhile, will be missing five first-team players, a group which includes Mergim Berisha. Marius Wolf is a doubt but has not yet been ruled out.

Back on form

Gladbach are currently having their best season in five years, having amassed 34 points in 22 points. In fact, they already have more points than they managed in the whole of last season.

Tale of the tape

Augsburg have won five of their past eight matches against Borussia Mönchengladbach, including the last two. They also have the chance to complete the season double over the Foals for just the second time. Gladbach's last win over Augsburg was in 2023.

Undefeated streaks

Gladbach are four games without defeat (W3, D1), while Augsburg haven't lost in six (W3, D3). The Foals have also lost only one of their last nine home fixtures (1-0 against Bayern), with the Bavarians unbeaten in their last four Bundesliga game on the road (W2, D2).
