THEY'VE DONE IT!

Jubilant scenes on the Frankfurt bench and among their players as the Eagles win for the first time in the Bundesliga this season. They were under intense pressure for much of the match and needed several brilliant saves from Kevin Trapp to keep them in the game, but goals from Hinteregger and Kostic did the business!

HINTEREGGER FROM HALFWAY!

The Frankfurt defender spies Neuer well off his line and lets fly with an audacious effort from about 45 yards out. It lacks both the power and precision to go in, though.

NO GOAL FOR LEWANDOWSKI?

The Polish hitman didn't score against Fürth last week and is yet to find the target today - though not for a lack of trying. The last time he went two Bundesliga games without scoring was in November / December 2019, when he even fired blanks in three straight games.

DAVIES ALERT

Sow plays another brilliant ball forward, this time low, and it cuts out two or three Bayern players to send Borre clear. He's still a good 45 yards from goal though and doesn't have the pace in a footrace against Davies, who nicks the ball off his toe.

ALL SQUARE AT THE BREAK

Well, well, well! Bayern have had 68 per cent of possession and 11 efforts at goal compared to Frankfurt's three, but it's 1-1 at the interval. Chances came thick and fast towards the end of the half, with Kostic robbing Upamecano of possession and flashing a ball across the face of goal, while both Toure and Gnabry will be wondering how their names aren't on the scoresheet. More of the same in the second half, please!

GNABRY SURELY... BUT NO?!?!?!

Sane collects Goretzka's ball over the defence and plays it low across the face of goal. Gnabry is arriving at the back post and has the goal at his mercy, but he somehow side-foots it wide!
43'

TOURE MUST SCORE!

Another chance against the run of play as Sow pings a long ball forward. Toure catches Davies flat-footed and chests it down, leaving him 16 yards out with just Neuer to beat. He shoots with his left foot, but the Bayern custodian makes a huge save to keep the score at 1-1!

It's been coming and Bayern finally manage to break through. Hinteregger attempts to dribble the ball out from the back and his attempted pass his blocked. MÜLLER STRAIGHT AT TRAPP

The openings are coming thick and fast for Bayern, this time for Müller. His left-footed shot on the turn from the edge of the area is a comfortable one for the Frankfurt goalkeeper though.

TRAPP PREVENTS OWN GOAL!

Gnabry crosses low into the middle from the left. Jakic is tracking back into the box and inadvertently sends the ball looping towards his own goal as he tries to clear. Trapp is alert to the danger and tips it over for a corner.

SANE FREE-KICK GOES WIDE

Bayern are awarded a free-kick in a central position, about 25 yards out. Sane takes it and gets the ball over the ball, but it whizzes just wide of Trapp's left-hand post.

FRANKFURT CAUTIOUS

They may need a tactical rethink after those two chances for Lewandowski, but Frankfurt are set up defensively here. There's no high press; instead they're sitting back in their own half and only attacking the opposition when they cross the halfway line. Borre is alone up top, with the side becoming a 5-4-1 formation out of possession.
5'

OVER FROM LEWANDOWSKI!

Stunning from Davies in the build-up, nutmegging his marker before sprinting 30 yards to the byline down the left and standing up a cross for Lewandowski. It's usually the kind of header the Pole buries with his eyes closed, but he's under pressure from a defender here and can't keep it down.
3'

FIRST CHANCE FOR LEWANDOWSKI!

A quick break forward from Bayern down the right as Gnabry feeds Müller in the middle, and he immediately clips the ball to his left to Lewandowski, arriving at the back post. He pokes it at goal, but Trapp is there to save!

TEAM NEWS - BAYERN

It's largely as expected for Bayern as Süle replaces the suspended Pavard at right-back in an unchanged line-up from the win over Dynamo Kiev - a first under Nagelsmann. Kimmich and Goretzka continue their partnership in central midfield, with summer arrivals Sabitzer on the bench once more, while the in-form Sane begins in attacking midfield with Gnabry and Müller, meaning Musiala is among the substitutes again.

101ST BUNDESLIGA MEETING

Across the 100 top-flight matches contested to date, Bayern have won 55 to Frankfurt's 23 (22 draws). The Eagles did take all three points the last time the teams met, earning a 2-1 home victory in February this year, but they've conceded five goals in each of their last three visits to the Allianz Arena.

THE STAKES

Wins for Dortmund and Freiburg yesterday closed Bayern's lead at the top to just a single point, something Julian Nagelsmann's side will obviously be keen to rectify here. Frankfurt, meanwhile, are the Bundesliga's draw specialists, having shared the points in five of their six league outings so far. They're yet to win in the Bundesliga in 2021/22 - what a confidence booster it would be if they broke that particular duck today.

Welcome along!

Thank you for joining us as we gear up for a mouth-watering clash at the Allianz Arena as league leaders Bayern take on an improving Frankfurt side. Both teams earned victory in Europe during the week, the Champions League and Europa League respectively, so who will take that form into today's game?
