Full-time: Hannover 3-0 Karlsruhe

Within nine minutes in the middle of the second half, Hannover decided this match with three goals shortly after Wanitzek had missed the chance to make it 1-0 to the visitors. Overall, the 96ers were the better side, with the exception of a few minutes before half-time, and temporarily move up to third place.

The decisive goal?

Again, the play goes down the left - but this time it's a misplaced pass in the build-up. Neubauer cleverly chips the ball into the middle. Bundu brings the ball down well, has to sort his feet out and curls the ball past the goalkeeper to the right. That should wrap things up for Hannover.

Double substitution

Karslruhe make two changes, though it will be very difficult for the visitors to come back from here.

Top of the League!

It's a dream comeback for Pichler, who provides Hannover's seventh goal from a substitute this season, sending them joint-top of the league on points with Elversberg.

Another substitute makes it two!

Karlsruhe get caught on the counter-attack - again it comes from the left through Aseko Nkili. He keeps possession and drives about 30 yards before slipping the ball through to substitute Pichler, who finishes low into the far corner.

The substitute strikes!

Chakroun, who was only brought on just a few minutes ago, has broken the deadlock for Hannover! After a counter-attack down the left, the Hannover player gets the ball in the space behind, rounds a defender and slots it into the far right corner.

Wanitzek misses

Schleusener breaks through on the left and plays the ball into the middle. The lay-off comes perfectly to Wanitzek, who narrowly misses with the inside of his foot from an ideal position!
63'

Almost the opener

Chakroun wins out in a one-on-one situation on the left brilliantly before crossing into the middle. Källman is free but can't get the required power behind the header. That was very close to being 1-0 to the 96ers...
60'

Just over

Källman lays it off on the right to Kolja Oudenne. His cross - at medium height - finds Bundu, who acrobatically puts the ball just over the bar.
58'

Stoppage

Pinto Pedrosa makes a deep run, but is dispossessed fairly just outside the penalty area, though subsequently requires treatment from what was a physical challenge. Hannover use the break to make a substitution.
56'

No way through

On both sides, the passes to the forwards have been too imprecise in the last few minutes.

Deep run

Källman is sent behind the defence but then pushed quite far to the left towards the byline. His shot is cleared for a corner.

Shot blocked

On the other side, a shot from distance by Kolja Oudenne is blocked for a corner, which comes to nothing.

Half-time: Hannover 0-0 Karlsruhe

Hannover were the better team for much of this half, with more possession and significantly more and better chances (including Källman's pictured effort). However, they failed to take the lead. In the minutes before the break, the home side suddenly became dangerously passive, and the visitors, led by their star player Wanitzek, started to get into dangerous positions.

Different Picture

The match has changed in the past few minutes. Hannover are now sitting deep and allowing KSC to play. The visitors are now showing more confidence.
38'

Wanitzek's shot - handball? No!

Hannover are sitting a bit deeper at the moment. Wanitzek cuts in from the right and gets a shot away. His shot is blocked and there is a suspicion of handball, but nothing is given.

First danger

Pinto Pedrosa darts into the penalty area and shoots. His shot grazes the side netting.

Källman blocks and Kolja Oudenne gets a volley away. The KSC goalkeeper clears again.

Next shot

Källman only hits the side netting with a shot from the right. Hannover's four shots (three on target) compared to Karlsruhe's two (none on target) sums up this game quite well.

Back and Forth

Bundu goes down on the edge of the penalty area, but doesn't get a free-kick. Wanitzek then initiates the counter-attack, but the KSC offensive becomes too intricate, and the visitors fail to get a shot off.

Too imprecise

Bundu dribbles along the left byline and lays it back to a completely unmarked Aseko Nkili. However, his low shot is too central, and Bernat manages to save with his foot.

Header

Beifus gets to head the ball at the far post after a corner kick. The ball whizzes past the goal by half a metre.

Advantage Hannover

Almost 70 per cent possession and that first major chance just now through Källman. The home side are taking control of this game.
18'

Bernat's double save

Mustapha Bundu gets the ball on the half-left. His effort is easy prey for the goalkeeper, but just a few seconds later, Herold misplays a pass in the build-up. Hannover move the ball quickly, but Källman can only fire his shot against Bernat.

Possession without danger

Choreography rises high

With the end of the protest silence, the Hannover fans raise a two-part choreography. Is this the starting signal for more offensive play?
10'

Hannover get going

Yokota works the ball down the right, then turns away. A pass from deep reaches Aseko Nkili, who marches to the byline in the penalty area and crosses into the middle. There, Bundu can't get a proper shot away. The ball rolls past the left side of the goal.
7'

Possession is key

Hannover have had around 65 per cent possession. However, the visitors have the first shot attempt, although it is blocked before it can become dangerous.
3'

No offensive action yet

On the pitch, there hasn't been any noteworthy, cleanly executed attack in the first three minutes. Both teams are pressing energetically, which is preventing a structured build-up play.
1'

Silence

As was the case last weekend in several Bundesliga stadiums, it remains quiet in the stands at the beginning in Hannover. Due to the ongoing security discussions in German stadiums, there is a protest with fans boycotting the atmosphere in the first few minutes.

Both sides in the promotion hunt

Hannover are just two points off third and the promotion/relegation play-off spot. KSC, meanwhile, are just five points off third. A win today would do both teams real good in their hunt for promotion.

Two Jubilees

Enzo Leopold is about to play his 100th Bundesliga 2 match, all of which he has played in the Hannover 96 shirt. For the visitors, Nicolai Rapp is playing his 200th second-division match, with his appearances spread across seven different clubs.

A look at the benches

For the hosts, Maurice Neubauer (missed two matches) and Benedikt Pichler (missed more than two months) are back in the squad. For KSC, Niclas Dühring is in the professional squad for the first time - the 21-year-old joined from Ingolstadt in the summer, where he made twelve appearances as a left-back in the 3rd division.

KSC: Jung makes comeback

Marcel Beifus plays for the visitors from Karlsruhe in place of Christoph Kobald, who is suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards. With Beifus in the starting eleven, Karlsruhe have collected 10 points in five matches this season. Sebastian Jung also starts for the first time since matchday 6 after recovering from a two-month injury break, although youngster Rafael Pinto Pedrosa retains his place despite both players often playing in the same position.

Coach Titz makes no changes

After the convincing performance against league leaders Paderborn (2-0), Hannover's coach has no reason to change anything and starts with the same eleven.

Christian Eichner on facing Hannover

"Hannover have a coach in Christian Titz who knows the league very well and stands for a clear playing philosophy and dominant football. They are a team that I expect to towards the top of the table at the end of the season. We need to improve to get a result, then we'll see what happens.
camera-photo

Christian Titz on facing Karlsruhe

"We are facing a team that has many different facets. They also attack strongly down the flanks, deliver good crosses, and have a strong presence in the box."
camera-photo

Franke knows Hannover

Former 96er Marcel Franke put KSC ahead in Hannover last season, but ultimately lost 1-2 with his team. Franke played 74 second-division matches for the Lower Saxony side from 2019 to 2022, and was even the 96 captain in his final season.
camera-photo

Historic

On 23 November 1986, Hannover won 8-0 at home to Karlsruhe, with hat-tricks from both Bastian Hellberg and Gregor Grillemeier (pictured in red). That result remains Hannover's record victory in Bundesliga 2 and Karlsruhe's heaviest defeat in the second division to this day.

Hannover's unbeaten streak

Hannover are unbeaten at home against KSC in their last 13 competitive matches (nine wins, four draws). The team from Baden last won at Maschsee in July 1988 in the Bundesliga under manager Winnie Schäfer, when an own goal by Karl-Heinz Geils in the 89th minute gave them a 3-2 away victory.

Goals guaranteed?

The two teams have met 24 times in Bundesliga 2, and none of those 24 matches have ended goalless.
