Schmidt's view on Wolfsburg

"Ralph Hasenhüttl took over a team about a year ago that was still fighting to avoid relegation, and a year later, they can qualify for Europe. He's managed to develop this team into a team that's willing to work their socks off. You see that in every game. Nevertheless, we saw in the last two home games, against Bochum and St. Pauli, that we're capable of something."

The encounter in Wolfsburg will be the 700th match Frank Schmidt has coached Heidenheim in since taking over way back in September 2007 - with the club in the fifth tier of German football at the time.

Hasenhüttl's view on Heidenheim

"We had a decent game against them in the reverse fixture. The difference now is that Heidenheim aren't in the UEFA Conference League anymore, so in recent games they've played better and with more energy. It’ll be an intensive game for us against a team fighting for survival. For us it’s an opportunity to get back into European contention."

Tim Siersleben came through the ranks at Wolfsburg and made his debut for them at the end of the 2020/21 season in a 3-2 loss against Mainz.
