Niko Kovač on facing Wolfsburg

"They are five points worse off than they should be. On top of that, they have Christian Eriksen who has a lot of quality, a lot of class. I'm expecting a tough opponent, who also, because of my past, doesn't want me and us to win."

Paul Simonis on facing Dortmund

"It's a big stadium that has a great atmosphere, but I'm just focused on our game and our team. We're going there to play our game, we know they have a good team but for me it's an opportunity to try and be dominant in an away game and to develop our game as much as possible."

Dortmund's record vs. the Wolves

BVB have won four of the last six meetings between the two sides, drawing once and losing once. Their most recent encounter saw Dortmund win 4-0 at home thanks to braces from Adeyemi and Guirassy. Their singular loss came in the second round of the 2024/25 DFB Cup, with Jonas Wind scoring the winner in extra-time.

Plenty of positives

While letting that late lead slip on Matchday 1 of the Champions League will frustrate Dortmund, there were plenty of causes for optimism in their performance. Adeyemi and Nmecha put in outstanding individual performances while Yan Couto got a first Dortmund goal, and they were also quick to react to Juve's first two goals. Furthermore, they'll now be hungry to make sure they get a win against Wolfsburg to soften the blow of missing out on those two extra points in Turin.

BVB and Bianconeri share Champions League spoils

The hosts come into this game on the back of an exhilarating 4-4 draw away to Juventus in the Champions League. After a quiet first half the game exploded into life in the second, with Karim Adeyemi putting the Black Yellows in front. A crazy 11 minutes put the game at 3-2 with 15 minutes to play, which Ramy Bensebaini made 4-2 shortly before the end of normal time. By the end of the six additional minutes at the end of the game, the scoreline stood at 4-4 after two goals in two minutes rescued a point for the hosts.
