More on that Leipzig team

Marco Rose makes three changes to the side that won 1-0 at home to Bochum last weekend. Bitshiabu, Klostermann and Henrichs are in for Orban, Simakan and Seiwald as the defence is shuffled - 19-year-old El Chadaille Bitshiabu will therefore be making his first Bundesliga start.

Alonso ahead of facing Leipzig

"We know that we can play better and have not yet reached our top level. We need to work on that. There is a good feeling but it is a process. Together we trust in ourselves to reach the level we aim to be at. The players know exactly what they have to do. We have a good flow in our game and we have to maintain that so that we can work both with and against the ball."
camera-photo

Rose ahead of facing Leverkusen

"The team have pretty much stayed together. They've reinforced their squad once again, adding experience and quality. Nordi [Mukiele], 26 years old, is the latest arrival. A terrific team with a terrific coach and a clear philosophy, who are difficult to defend and play against. I think Leverkusen will definitely be a force to be reckoned with again this year. It is an ambitious task for us, but we're really looking forward to it. We're up for it. We've always created chances against Leverkusen and did a lot of things well and right both there and at home last season."

Watch: How do Wirtz and Xavi compare?

We take a closer look at what the two playmakers bring to the table ahead of Saturday's encounter...

No stopping Bayer

Leverkusen are unbeaten in 35 Bundesliga matches. Thirty-six would take them level second with Hamburg in the all-time charts. Bayern Munich hold the outright record: 53 games between Matchday 10 of 2012/13 and Matchday 28 of 2013/14.

Watch: Leipzig 2-3 Leverkusen - previous meeting

In their last meeting, Leverkusen also needed a late goal to see off Leipzig, scoring three goals away from home on their way to their first Bundesliga title. Leipzig will aim to make amends for it this weekend and put an end to the visitors' winning streak.

Still undefeated

Leverkusen's victory against Gladbach on the opening day means that they are still yet to lose in the Bundesliga since the season before last. Despite receiving a scare from Gladbach, Xabi Alonso's side will be glad to have three points on the board as they go into another difficult fixture against Leipzig.

Florian Wirtz struck late into injury time against Gladbach to turn one point into three. After starting well, Leverkusen found themselves two-nil up before a spirited Gladbach side looked to have earned themselves a point. A late penalty decision saved Leverkusen, although only after Wirtz had converted the rebound to his saved penalty.

Next step

Having started their season with a win and their new signing full of confidence, Leipzig now head to reigning champions Leverkusen who won in their opening game against Gladbach. Marco Rose's men will need to be at their best to come away from the BayArena with anything, as Xabi Alonso's side look to retain their title.
