Game over!

BVB survive a late scare from a Hoffenheim corner and the visitors go three points clear at the top of the standings, with Bayern Munich facing Union Berlin tomorrow. Julian Brandt's winner means Edin Terzic's side have made history as the first Dortmund team to win nine games in a row at the start of a calendar year. Phenomenal.

Big-hands Baumann

Bellingham is on the ball for an age inside the Hoffenheim area. He finally cuts back for Reus, who takes a touch before feeding Guerreiro inside the area and to the left. The Portuguese shoots and ... you've guessed it ... Baumann saves well. What a game the RSG goalkeeper has had.

TSG's golden moment

Asllani is denied by a Süle block. From the resulting corner, Angelino fires towards the far post. Asllani is there. The substitute somehow heads wide.
82'

Süle wayward

Süle runs back towards his own box with his hands together in pray mode. The big defender had previously burst out of the Dortmund box on the counter attack with options either side. With Malen haring down the left, Süle overhit a pass and the chance disappeared.

Ten to play

Dortmund may have dominated this game in terms of possession and chances, but the outcome of this one is far from certain. Hoffenheim look just as capable of scoring an equaliser as BVB do getting a second.

BVB at the double

Double chance for Dortmund. Guerreiro passes for Brandt who puts his head down and strikes with all of his might from just inside the area. Baumann drops to his knees and fists the ball out. Bellingham's follow up makes for a far more straightforward save for the Hoffenheim custodian.
73'

Dolberg denied

Hoffenheim are getting closer. Kasper Dolberg runs through on the left, beats his man and fires low. Kobel again makes the save. BVB are making hard work of this.
71'

Almost Kramaric

Kramaric receives the ball in a central area and belts a shot in the direction of the far post. For a second, this looks in. The ball fizzes inches wide.
70'

Bellingham booked

Bellingham goes through the back of Rudy and the Hoffenheim midfielder is understandably furious. The ref pulls out a yellow card and flashes it in the direction of the BVB midfielder.

Goal?

Borussia Dortmund break. Guerreiro feeds Bellingham who jogs forward. The england midfielder forces Brandt slightly wide but the attacker retrieves. Brandt passes for Wolf who smacks towards the top corner, near post. The goal net almost lifts off. But wait ... a previous incident is being checked.

Half time

Up until the last 15 minutes of the half, Hoffenheim would have been generally happy with their lot: creating chances on the counter and keeping BVB at bay. The hosts were completely overrun in the last quarter of an hour, however, and are lucky to only be behind to a Julian Brandt goal.

Wolf chance

Guerreiro has been very busy in this game. The Portuguese full back lays one across for Wolf who is running onto this with all the time in the world. Wolf sends his shot out of the stadium, possibly.

Out of form vs. In form

While Dortmund have the best record (six wins from six games) in the Bundesliga since the winter break, Hoffenheim have the worst (one point from six games). That doesn't make for too encouraging reading if you're a TSG fan but it has to change at some point, doesn't it? What better day to do it than today.

Early team news

Former Dortmund man Thomas Delaney was announced as a doubt for today's game by Matarazzo yesterday but there is good news for the hosts in that Kevin Vogt is back in contention. As for the visitors, Karim Adeyemi is out for at least three weeks so Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Donyell Malen are expected to vie for a place in the starting XI.

Watch: TSG's last win over BVB

It's not since October 2019 that Hoffenheim have tasted victory over Dortmund. They'll be hoping that today's the day they end their barren run.

Fighting talk from Matarazzo

Hoffenheim's American head coach said: "I expect us to fight and be competitive. We'll give everything to ensure that our performances also translate into results. We'll approach the game with full power and energy. The match starts at 0-0. It should be clear to everyone that we can win the game on Saturday."
camera-professional-play-symbol

Reasons for hope?

Hoffenheim haven't won since October, but made today's opponents work very hard in a 0-1 defeat at Dortmund in September, having 50% of possession. They will hope to go toe-to-toe with them again.

Cautious coach

Dortmund boss Edin Terzic is not getting carried away by the stellar current form. Citing the fact that Dortmund's past three wins against Hoffenheim have been by a single goal, he warned: "We'll need to prepare ourselves extremely well for it. They are very hard-running and want to have a lot of possession, they can be very dangerous. We're sure it'll be an intense game."

Brilliant BVB

Dortmund's 4-1 win over Hoffenheim last weekend was the third time they have scored four or more in a Bundesliga match in 2023 already - and their eighth win in eight in all competitions this year.

Summit in sight!

Dortmund have a chance of taking to the top of the Bundesliga this weekend - for the first time since Matchday 2 of the 2019/20 season. Who would have predicted that when they went into the winter break nine points behind Bayern in sixth? A point or more at Hoffenheim today would take them top overnight for certain until Bayern host Union Berlin on Sunday.
