"It's exactly what we wished for a year ago, that we would be able to play such away matches. It's a privilege to experience something like this in Bundesliga 2 and we must enjoy it. Nevertheless, our approach remains unchanged and I don't sense any nervousness. This week was primarily about substantive issues, about delivering more stable performances, and that's where the focus lies. We're very excited and a win would do us good, so that we can continue to play such matches in the future."

Stefan Leitl on facing Dresden

"The atmosphere and togetherness within the squad are very good. Nevertheless, the guys are focused and know what's coming their way. You can sense that they want that third victory. This requires an incredibly disciplined performance, and physically we must reach our limits again."

Cup night

The two sides did also meet six years ago in the DFB Cup. On 30 October 2019, Dresden of Bundesliga 2 almost caused an upset in front of over 70,000 spectators against top-flight Hertha, until Jordan Torunarigha saved the Berliners with his equaliser to make it 3-3 in the 120th minute, forcing a penalty shootout, where Hertha advanced.

Wrong direction

In both matches, the winning goal was the result of an own goal. Romain Bregerie gave the Berliners a 1-0 home victory on 26 September 2012, while Pierre-Michel Lasogga found the back of his own net in Dresden on 2 March 2013.
