Dangerous

There's finally another good Dynamo chance. After a corner from the right, Amoako wins a header from close range. It's a tricky bouncing effort that Ernst manages to tip over the crossbar with his hand.

No way through

Dynamo are fighting, but can hardly create any good chances.

Dynamo's leaky defence

Another two goals conceded, now 22 in total in eleven matches - Dynamo have never conceded so many after eleven matchdays in the second division.
71'

Dynamo already beaten?

Shots on goal in the second half: 4-1 - Hertha are currently much closer to making it 3-0 than the visitors are to scoring a goal themselves.

Tidy footwork

Hertha counter-attack. Reese is free on the left, and he passes cleverly along the ground to the middle to Michaël Cuisance. He performs a little dance around the penalty spot, beats two opponents, but then his shot is blocked.
65'

Clean sheet

Will Hertha keep a clean sheet for the third competitive match in a row? The defence has not conceded a goal for more than 270 minutes of competitive play.

To the near post

Strong move from Reese. After a long ball, the striker is on the left wing. He cuts inside and fires with his right foot towards the near post from a tight angle. Lennart Grill is alert and parries it for a corner.

Half-time: Hertha 2-0 Dynamo

Hertha lead comfortably at the break, virtue of taking their chances effectively. Cuisance opened the scoring with a stunner early on before Reese gave the hosts a comfortable half-time lead from the penalty spot just before the break. Dresden have had more shots, but they will need to create a lot more if they want to take any points from this one.

Reversing rotation

Toni Leistner, Paul Seguin and Luca Schuler were given a rest in Tuesday's DFB Cup match against Elversberg, but all three are back to start today for Hertha. Diego Demme (pictured) and Maurice Krattenmacher, who were afforded starts in the cup, keep their places, while goalscorer Sebastian Grönning and youngster Kennet Eichhorn must take a seat on the bench.

With Amoako and Herrmann

Thomas Stamm makes two changes compared to the 2-1 defeat against Paderborn. Konrad Faber and Vinko Sapina drop to the bench, while Kofi Amoako (pictured, for the first time since Matchday 8) and Luca Herrmann (for the first time since Matchday 6) return to the starting line-up.

Thomas Stamm on facing Hertha

"It's exactly what we wished for a year ago, that we would be able to play such away matches. It's a privilege to experience something like this in Bundesliga 2 and we must enjoy it. Nevertheless, our approach remains unchanged and I don't sense any nervousness. This week was primarily about substantive issues, about delivering more stable performances, and that's where the focus lies. We're very excited and a win would do us good, so that we can continue to play such matches in the future."
camera-photo

Stefan Leitl on facing Dresden

"The atmosphere and togetherness within the squad are very good. Nevertheless, the guys are focused and know what's coming their way. You can sense that they want that third victory. This requires an incredibly disciplined performance, and physically we must reach our limits again."

Good omen

Stefan Leitl has not lost any of his five matches against Dresden as a coach, having won twice and drawn three of them across spells with Fürth and Ingolstadt.

Cup night

The two sides did also meet six years ago in the DFB Cup. On 30 October 2019, Dresden of Bundesliga 2 almost caused an upset in front of over 70,000 spectators against top-flight Hertha, until Jordan Torunarigha saved the Berliners with his equaliser to make it 3-3 in the 120th minute, forcing a penalty shootout, where Hertha advanced.

Wrong direction

In both matches, the winning goal was the result of an own goal. Romain Bregerie gave the Berliners a 1-0 home victory on 26 September 2012, while Pierre-Michel Lasogga found the back of his own net in Dresden on 2 March 2013.
camera-photo

A rare encounter

Hertha Berlin and Dynamo Dresden are playing in the same league for only the second time ever. The last time that happened was the 2012/13 Bundesliga 2 season, with both teams winning their home matches 1-0.
