Schlotterbeck rested

Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck will miss tonight's trip to Augsburg, according to regional paper Ruhr Nachrichten. The 25-year-old, who is reportedly suffering from a cold, is being rested by head coach Niko Kovač after playing every minute of Borussia's last five Bundesliga games, not to mention 120 minutes in the DFB Cup against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday.

Augsburg do score goals

Despite the league positions of the two teams, Dortmund have only scored two more goals than Augsburg, 14 and 12, respectively. Additionally, Augsburg's defeat against Leipzig was the first time they had failed to score in the Bundesliga this season.

A series of unwanted records

Augsburg's 6-0 defeat against Leipzig was only the second time in Bundesliga history that they had conceded more than four goals in a home game. Friday's hosts have also already lost five of their first eight games - a joint club record. They also have the worst defensive record in the Bundesliga so far this season, conceding 20 goals and should they concede two or more on Friday, then it will be the club's worst defensive record ever after nine Bundesliga games.

The Bavarians' miserable week continued as they followed the weekend's 6-0 loss at home to Leipzig with a 1-0 defeat to Bundesliga 2 strugglers Bochum to end their cup run. Can they finally turn things around at the WWK Arena against Dortmund?

It's a quick turnaround for both teams after Tuesday's DFB Cup action. BVB needed extra-time and penalties to get past Eintracht Frankfurt after their game finished at 1-1 after 120 minutes. The Black and Yellows eventually won 4-2 in the shootout.
