The hosts created most of their big chances in the first quarter of an hour, but regularly failed to convert them. This was also due to a strong performance from Münster keeper Schenk, who has been brilliant today. Münster calmed the game down from there, only for Karaman to hand Schalke a 1-0 lead out of nowhere. Shortly before the break, the second goal for the Royal Blues also found the net.
