Bayern Munich are sweating on the fitness of Harry Kane after this season's Bundesliga top scorer sat out training on Tuesday and Wednesday due to illness.

As Vincent Kompany had given his Bayern stars two days off training on Sunday and Monday to make the most of a rare match-free midweek following their 2-2 draw at Hamburg on Saturday, it was not immediately clear at what stage Kane had fallen ill or how close he was to recovering.

However, as Bayern's Matchday 21 clash at home to third-placed Hoffenheim is the last Bundesliga fixture to take place this weekend on Sunday (kick-off: 5.30 pm CET), there remains time for the England striker to return to fitness and add to his incredible tally of 22 goals this season.

There was better news for Bayern fans with the presence of Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer in an open training session on Wednesday after the duo had missed practice on Tuesday. In Laimer's case, it was his first appearance on the training pitch in three weeks following a calf injury.

Bayern are six points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga ahead of Sunday's meeting with Hoffenheim. They also have a DFB Cup quarter-final with RB Leipzig to come next week, as well as a UEFA Champions League last-16 tie against still-to-be-determined opposition in March.
