Harry Kane would be "very proud" to win Ballon d'Or
Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has said he would be "very proud" to win the Ballon d'Or following his stunning 2025/26 campaign.
The England superstar, who is currently on international duty with his nation, is amongst the favourites to win the personal accolade after scoring 63 goals for Bayern Munich last term, as well as 10 for England - six of which came at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Discussing his chances of lifting the award, Kane told the media during an England press conference ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash with Spain, "This is my best chance now. As for whether the situation will remain that way in the future, we will have to wait and see".
"I said frankly that last year was my best year, both on a personal and a collective level. I would be very proud to win this title. Now, everything depends on the opinions of others," Kane concluded. "As for now, I am focused on helping this team achieve a win tomorrow."
Kane would become the first Bundesliga player to win the trophy since Matthias Sammer in 1996. Meanwhile, the last Bayern player to triumph was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981, and the ex-Germany international has also backed the 33-year-old. He said, "Harry scored a total of 73 goals for Bayern and England last season, and only Lionel Messi has achieved a better figure in a single year during this century. This is the benchmark."
Kane has enjoyed another strong start to this season, scoring six goals in seven games in all competitions so far. The Ballon d'Or winner will be announced on 26 October.
