What happens next?

Germany are already assured of first place in Group E prior to the final round of fixtures. It means they will play in Boston against one of the third-placed teams from either Group A, B, C, D or F in the round of 32 on 29 June (10.30pm CEST).

There are 495 possible combinations for the eight teams that advance in third place.

Their position as winner of Group E in the knockout bracket will keep them mostly on the US East Coast, should they continue to progress. Their path to the final would be:

Round of 16: 4 July, Philadelphia
Quarter-finals: 9 July, Boston
Semi-finals: 14 July, Dallas
Final: 19 July, New York/New Jersey or third-place play-off: 18 July, Miami
