DERBYSTAR presents the official match ball for the 2023 Supercup
Designed especially with the upcoming Supercup between Bayern Munich and Leipzig in mind, DERBYSTAR presents a new, colour variant of the 'Bundesliga Brilliant APS' match ball.
Since the 2018/19 season, DERBYSTAR has provided the official match ball for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 as well as for the Supercup. The cooperation between the DFL and the internationally recognised traditional brand was extended last year until summer 2026.
Since the company was founded in 1968, DERBYSTAR has specialised in the production of hand-sewn balls and was one of the first manufacturers to use synthetic materials to make the balls.

Supercup 2023: date, participants, match day
As early as the 1970s, DERBYSTAR, which belongs to the SELECT Sport Group, was represented in Germany's top division — initially through numerous collaborations with clubs — before DERBYSTAR balls were used in all 306 Bundesliga games in the 1979/80 season.
The official game balls can be purchased in the Derbystar shop.
Designed specifically for the 2023 Supercup, there is now a new colour variant of the official 'Bundesliga Brilliant APS' match ball. The ball will only be used for the final, to be held on August 12 at the Allianz Arena (kick-off 20:45 CET).
This season's Supercup will feature Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and DFB Cup winners RB Leipzig.
Records, matches, goals - the history of the Super Cup
The Supercup has been hosted by the DFL since 2010. Prior to that, there was a Supercup organized by the DFB from 1987 to 1996. Bayern are the record winners of the trophy with 10 victories in 17 participations. Borussia Dortmund are in second place with six victories in 12 finals. Opponents Leipzig are in the Supercup for the second year running having lost 5-3 to Bayern last time out.
