Musiala suffered a broken left leg and ankle dislocation in Bayern's Club World Cup quarter-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, but continues to make excellent progress on the road to playing competitive football again.

Since 17 November, the 22-year-old has been completing exercises with the ball at Bayern's Säbener Straße training base, keeping him on track to return to the pitch early in 2026 - if not before.

"When will he come back? The plan was January, but we'll see," Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany said recently.

"These long-term injuries can sometimes heal a little faster, but sometimes they take longer. That's why I want to give him the necessary rest for his return."

Bayern have enjoyed a near-flawless campaign in Musiala's absence, putting together a European record run of 16 straight wins to start the 2025/26 season, before drawing with Union Berlin prior to the November international break.

The Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League league phase leaders have another eight games to get through before the winter break, including a heavyweight European trip to Arsenal (26 November) and DFB Cup last-16 tie with Union (3 December). Kompany's charges host Wolfsburg in their first competitive match of 2026, on 11 January.

Musiala will also hope to be part of Germany's FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The newly expanded 48-team competition takes place from 11 June to 19 July.
