Werder enjoy their huge win

Full-time: Werder Bremen 3-2 Augsburg

An incredible second-half ends with Bremen snatching all three points, having scored three brilliant goals to come from two down and win. The hosts were the better side at the start of the second 45 but found themselves chasing a two-goal deficit after Brackelmann glanced home from a corner. A composed finish from Grüll gave them hope, before Füllkrug pulled them level with just minutes to spare. With the game looking like it would end in a draw, substitute Weiser stepped up to win the game with an outstanding goal worthy of winning most games.

Kick-off!

Half-time: Werder Bremen 0-1 Augsburg

It's been a fairly even contest so far, but it's Augsburg who take a slender lead into the break. Neither side had created much until Fellhauer broke free of the Bremen defence and slid the ball past Hein, forcing the hosts to chase the game early on. And chase they did. They had more of the ball from that point on and did threaten, with Dinkçi having a good chance inside the box, but they couldn't get themselves back on level terms before the half-time whistle.

More on that Augsburg side

There is one change to the Augsburg starting XI: Mert Kömür (pictured) starts for the first time this season, replacing Arijon Ibrahimovic, who drops to the bench.

More on that Bremen side

Daniel Thioune sticks with the same starting XI for the third consecutive Bundesliga game, with no defeat in the past two (a 3-1 win at home to Leipzig followed by the 1-1 draw in Cologne).

Daniel Thioune on facing Augsburg

“Augsburg can make life very difficult for you. We have to be prepared for them to let us have the ball. We have a lot of respect for what they’ve built there. We want to show the same quality in possession that we’ve shown in recent games. Augsburg restart very quickly when the ball goes out of play and they’re dangerous in transition after winning it back. We’ll need exactly the same willingness to recover and counter-press as we’ve shown in our recent matches.”

Manuel Baum on facing Bremen

“Things are currently looking very positive in terms of results, but we’re not letting that get to our heads. We need to look at how we can still improve, because there are plenty of things which we still have to work on.”

Growing threat from set plays

Werder have already found the net three times from corners this term - more often than in the entire 2025/26 campaign.

Firing on all cylinders

Augsburg have scored nine goals in their first three games of a Bundesliga season for the first time in their history. Even if they draw a blank in Bremen, Die Fuggerstädter would still have more goals after four rounds of top-flight fixtures than ever before.
