The Man of the Match believes we have not yet seen the best of Leipzig this season.

Full-time! Leipzig 3-1 Stuttgart

RB Leipzig march on to reclaim second place, thanks in no small part to a superb Yan Diomande display. They've only dropped two points since losing to leaders Bayern Munich on the opening weekend. Stuttgart's five-match winning run is over.

Attacking change

Badredine Bouanani is sent on to find an equaliser, with midfielder Karazor sacrificed.

Like-for like switch

So much quality in this Leipzig squad as Ezechiel Banzuzi comes on for Baumgartner in the No.10 role.
84'

Tactical foul

Hendriks gets a ticking off after scything down Rômulo just past halfway. The Leipzig forward might have had a clear run at goal without that intervention.
81'

World-class save!

Nübel dives low to his right to stop Rômulo's downward header from Raum's in-swinging free-kick from nestling in the back of the net. Great reactions and he managed to shovel it to safety in the process!
78'

Undav taken off

It's not been Undav's day, but he's got into decent positions and will be happy to have got a solid 77 minutes under his belt after his recent injury troubles. Fellow Germany international Jamie Leweling is on, offering a different proposition for the remainder with his pace.
73'

Route one

Leipzig are almost undone by another long ball, but Undav is dispossessed by Lukeba's superb sliding challenge and is offside anyway.
72'

Reinforcements

Werner beefs up his midfield with the introduction of Xaver Schlager for the excellent Ouédraogo. Nusa also makes way, with Johan Bakayoko his replacement on the left wing.
69'

Good spell

Stuttgart are playing more like the home team right now. Can they turn possession into chances?

A long ball from the back catches out the Leipzig defence. Tomás holds his nerve to run clear and round Gulácsi, before slotting home to halve the deficit. Just what Hoeneß wanted to see from his substitute!

Blocked!

Lukeba gets his body in the way of a goal-bound shot from El Khannouss. The Leipzig defender read that situation really well.
58'

Changes

Undav stops a counter in its tracks with a tactical foul that earns the contest's second booking. Hoeneß then sends on Tiago Tómas and Nikolas Nartey in a bid to turn the tide. Führich and Mittelstädt, who's had a difficult afternoon up against the brilliant Diomande, get the hook.
54'

You Diamond-e!

Daylight for Leipzig, courtesy of a fantastic Yan Diomande goal. There doesn't appear to be much on as the 18-year-old receives a speculative pass 25 yards from goal, but he bides his time to work an opening, jinking inside of two black shirts, before wrong-footing Nübel with a snap-shot into the bottom corner.

Half-time! Leipzig 1-0 Stuttgart

Jeff Chabot's own goal has Leipzig ahead at the end of an electric first half of football at the Red Bull Arena. Both sides have created chances, with the quality of Leipzig's young forward line the difference.

A whisker away!

Pass, move, pass, move, pass, move - Leipzig do their best impression of Pep Guardiola's legendary Barcelona team in and around the Stuttgart box. Eventually the chance presents itself to Rômulo, who pings a shot wide of the far post.
39'

First booking

There's no intent or contact to speak of, but it's dangerous from Baumgartner, who's booked for a high boot in the direction of El Khannouss.
33'

Close!

Leipzig open up Stuttgart again on the right-hand flank. Baku gets in behind and pulls a teasing ball back for Rômulo, but he's under pressure and can't keep his attempted volley on the stretch down.
30'

Teenage kicks

Diomande weights a brilliant outside-of-the-boot pass into the feet of Assan Ouédraogo, who needs no invitation to drive forward into the Stuttgart area. The angle's tight, though, and his shot is too close to the goalkeeper.

Undav on the prowl

It's Stuttgart's turn to attack up the middle with Führich. He tries to feed the run of Undav, who's called back for offside. Moments later, the Stuttgart striker moves to get on the end of an El Khannouss cross in towards the near post, but is shown away from goal by a white shirt.

Leipzig attack in numbers as Diomande skips inside off the right. Rômulo helps it on to Baku in the box, but his effort sails across goal and wide. Perhaps the pass back into the centre was the better option.

Deniz the Menace

Deniz Undav has scored four times across three previous Bundesliga meetings with Leipzig. Will the fit-again Germany international add to his haul today?

Top-four race

Dortmund climbed into second with victory in Augsburg last night. However, a win for either side in Leipzig would lift the victors back above BVB in the standings.

More on those teams

Werner makes four changes to the team that beat Cottbus in the DFB Cup in midweek. Peter Gulácsi, Castello Lukeba, Assan Ouédraogo and Yan Diomande are recalled as the Leipzig head coach reverts to last weekend's triumphant XI. Maarten Vandevoordt, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, Ezechiel Banzuzi and Johan Bakayoko make way. As for Stuttgart, Alexander Nübel, Chris Führich and Josha Vagnoman come back in after dropping out of the side for the cup win against Mainz. Fabian Bredlow and Badredine Bouanani drop to the bench, but Lorenz Assignon misses out altogether.

Ole Werner on facing Stuttgart

"Both teams are known for playing very attacking football, but both sides are in very good form defensively at the moment. It's a game that could be decided by minor details. We're in good form and after all the changes in the summer, we're growing more and more as a team. That's reflected in our results of late."

Sebastian Hoeneß on facing Leipzig

"We want to maintain our momentum and do our bit to make it the brilliant game everyone is expecting. Competing against the best teams in the league is always special. Leipzig have great individual quality. Head coach Ole Werner has managed to impart a clear vision."
