Full-time: Dortmund 1-0 Cologne

Beier wins it at the death as Dortmund break Cologne hearts. For much of the game, it seemed Schwäbe was going to do enough to earn the visitors a point, but in the end, the hosts finally found a way through. That's a big three points as Dortmund look to try and keep up with the imperious Bayern.

That horrible injury to Hübers means that Cologne will have to finish this game with 10 men. Unfortunately for the visitors, they have already used all of their substitutions.

That should be the opener!

Guirassy almost gets on the end of a low cross before Adeyemi chests down a Nmecha pass into the path of Guirassy, only for the striker to fire into the body of Schwäbe from just a few yards out. Great goalkeeping, but that really should have been the opener.

Substitution

Half-time: Dortmund 0-0 Cologne

It's level at the break, but both sides have had chances. Adeyemi and Anton came close for the hosts, but it was teenage sensation El Mala that had the best chance of the night. The youngster was played through on goal and had time to set himself, although in the end, he could only poke his shot wide with just Kobel to beat.

Another opportunity for El Mala

El Mala pounces on a loose pass to Anton before bursting through the centre-back's challenge. He thinks about shooting, but decides to take on Schlotterbeck as well. He gets around the Dortmund defender, but loses his balance when shooting, and the strike sails harmlessly over the bar. That was another good chance.

Just over from Anton

Another dangerous Dortmund set-piece is eventually sent back across the box to Anton, who pokes an effort goalwards that is narrowly deflected over the bar for another corner.

8'

First threat from the hosts

Ryerson gets down the right and whips in a dangerous low cross that Hübers clears behind just before Svensson can reach it.

So close to the opener

El Mala wins a corner with his direct running, and the set-piece nearly leads to the opener. The delivery is flicked on at the near post before being deflected goalwards by Schlotterbeck. Luckily for Dortmund, Kobel is able to scramble across and deal with the loose ball.
3'

First shot of the game

A loose pass into midfield is intercepted, allowing Cologne to push forward for the first time. El Mala is then fed the ball inside the box, but he is closed down as he shoots by Schlotterbeck, and Kobel is able to palm the effort away for a corner. The set-piece comes to nothing.

Niko Kovač on facing Cologne

"Cologne have started the season well and are on a high. They move the ball quickly and get a lot of bodies in and around the penalty area. We have to defend high up the pitch to keep them at bay. Their fans are also great and will travel in numbers. It'll be another tough battle. We have to be switched on from the start."

Lukas Kwasniok on facing Dortmund

"Dortmund have been playing a slightly different game since their coaching change. They are very selfless and have very clear routines. It's thanks to the coach that he has transformed a good squad into a cohesive team. It's because of games like these on Saturday that all the boys started playing football at some point. To be able to showcase themselves there is something very special."
