Milestone of 1,000 to be reached?

While Bayern have netted a record 117 goals alone this season, the 18 Bundesliga sides have plundered 957 between them. As such, the 1,000-goal milestone, which hasn't been reached since 1984/85, could be obtained this term. That would require a hefty 43 strikes across today's nine matches - considerably more than the 3.22 goals averaged per game this season - but crazier things have happened.

Carl Klaus, who is expected to line up between the sticks today in the absence of Frederik Rønnow and Matheo Raab, signed a new contract with the club ahead of this encounter. “For me personally, achieving something historic here and fulfilling a lifelong dream means a lot. Union vs. Augsburg will mark referee Patrick Ittrich's final game in the Bundesliga before hanging up his whistle. "I always tried to treat everyone equally: the players, the officials, people on the street, journalists, everyone really," he said. "Of course it is really difficult to let go. I think anyone who is an athlete, especially a Bundesliga player, can understand that."
