Full-time: Wolfsburg 3-3 Cologne

Pick the bones out of that one. We had an early goal and two in second-half added time. But the bottom line is that it's a draw and both teams remain unbeaten so far this season.

Kamiński to the rescue!

The Wolfsburg loanee has rescued Cologne! Ache heads down a cross to the far post, and Kamiński controls it inside the box before slotting in to level things once again. Madness!

Doesn't count

Marius Bülter thinks he's got a third goal in as many games for Cologne as he turns in a Jóhannesson free-kick from wide on the left, but the assistant's flag is immediately raised for offside. It goes to a lengthy VAR check, with referee Dankert eventually announcing to the stadium that it's been ruled out for a foul by a Cologne attacker.

Cologne make a switch at the break as Jóhannesson comes on for goalscorer Waldschmidt. The resumption is only short, though, as play is halted again to allow green smoke released by the home fans to clear.

Half-time: Wolfsburg 1-1 Cologne

Very much a half of two halves. Cologne were by far the better side prior to the halt in play for the storm, with Waldschmidt striking early, but Wolfsburg have had the upper hand since the resumption and levelled shortly before half-time through Amoura.

Skov Olsen!

Wolfsburg have their tails up now. Amoura chases a long ball up the inside left, checks back inside and finds Skov Olsen over to the right. He cuts inside on his left foot and looks for the far corner. Not far wide from the Dane.

Head and shoulders above

Amoura is now Wolfsburg's outright top scorer with two goals this campaign. Five of his 12 Bundesliga goals have come from set pieces, but this was the first from a free-kick.

Amoura rises highest!

The Wolves are back level! It's a lovely free-kick in from wide on the left by Arnold, and Amoura - possibly the smallest player on the pitch - produces a huge leap to outjump Lund and plant his header beyond Schwäbe.

Party time in the Autostadt

Wolfsburg are marking their 80th anniversary this weekend. There's a host of club legends waiting to walk out, like Brazilian duo Naldo and Grafite, to a party atmosphere inside the Volkswagen Arena.

More on that Cologne team

Lukas Kwasniok makes just two changes to his high-flying Cologne side which thrashed Freiburg 4-1 on Matchday 2. Joël Schmied and Luca Waldschmidt come in for Denis Huseinbašić and Ísak Jóhannesson, both of whom must take their place on the bench. Kwasniok seems to have opted for a modified system too, setting up in what looks like a 4-2-3-1 formation, as opposed to last week's 4-3-3.

More on that Wolfsburg team

For Wolfsburg, there are two changes from their Matchday 2 outing against Mainz which they drew 1-1. Joakim Mæhle and Mohamed Amoura come back into the team, being preferred to Aaron Zehnter and Dženan Pejčinović, who start on the bench.

The Danish veteran midfielder spoke about his reasons for joining Wolfsburg, his Bundesliga expectations, and former teammate Harry Kane.

Bülter on facing Wolfsburg

"I haven’t really concerned myself much with Wolfsburg yet. We’ll do that this week. They also have a new coach, but I think we’ll focus first and foremost on ourselves, that we can again play like we’ve done over the first two games. Then hopefully we’ll win."

Bülter on how it feels to be ranked second for goal involvements

"It's good, but I can also put it all into perspective. If it were after 30 games, then it’d be much better. But we’re only two games in. So, I'll keep pushing so I can maybe stay up there a bit longer. I probably won’t catch Kane, but scoring a few more goals wouldn’t be bad."
camera-photo

Marius Bülter on Cologne's start to the season

"Things have so far just clicked with the whole team in general. We work a lot and are getting the reward for the work every individual is putting in. Sometimes you can’t explain why you get spells during the season where things go well. There will also be times where things don’t go well and you can’t explain it. So, we've got to enjoy the moment, draw confidence from it and keep working hard to ensure this spell continues for as long as possible.”
camera-photo

Jóhannesson a doubt for the Billy Goats

The Iceland international picked up a knock in his country's 2-1 loss to France during the break, throwing doubt over his availability for the weekend.

Eriksen could feature on bench

Christian Eriksen's new coach, Paul Simonis, said the Danish international "had a good first training session. We will see tomorrow if he is an option for Saturday. He won't start, but he might be on the bench."
camera-photo

Paul Simonis on facing Cologne

"Cologne have started the season very well, but we'll try to dominate. The second half against Mainz was very poor. We've analysed that and adjusted our approach somewhat."
camera-photo

Lukas Kwasniok on facing Wolfsburg

“They have a lot of good footballers in their team. They bring tempo to the game as well as quality on the ball, they have two robust central defenders and are a team that always looks for a solution whilst also looking to entertain their fans. Even despite our two wins we’re going there as an underdog.”

Special day in Wolfsburg

The 80th anniversary of the founding of the club will be marked on 12 September. A number of activities are being planned, including illumination of the city's landmarks at night, a fan march before the Cologne match, special anniversary jersey and fan tifo.

More from Eriksen 🇩🇰

"I immediately sensed that [coach] Paul Simonis had a clear vision for the team and for me personally," the Danish midfielder explained. "The fact that there are several familiar faces in the squad from the Danish national team makes VfL a particularly attractive proposition for me.” Eriksen is the sixth Dane in the current VfL set-up.

Eriksen a Wolf! 🐺
