The hosts have brought in former Cologne, Union Berlin, Bielefeld and St. Pauli man Marcel Hartel. The experienced midfielder could make his debut against Wolfsburg.

These Lower Saxony rivals last met in Bundesliga 2 over 30 years ago, during the 1995/96 season. Wolfsburg have won four of the last five encounters, with Hannover's only victory in the previous 10 meetings coming in the Bundesliga in November 2018 (a 2-1 win).
