Born in Pforzheim, Marcel Rapp came through the academy at Karlsruhe and made his second division debut for the Baden club under Joachim Löw back in December 1999. In fact, he played eight of his nine matches in Bundesliga 2 for Karlsruhe (as well as one for Oberhausen).
