Another interruption
With a cloud of smoke drifting through the stadium, the match has been temporarily suspended by Dr. Burda. The visibility is too poor to continue the encounter at this moment.

Injury delay
Vermeij and Ulrich clash heads in midfield and both need treatment. It looked pretty nasty and it takes a while until they're back on their feet. They are both able to continue, thankfully.

Dresden stun the Avnet Arena!
The visitors strike just before half-time! Following a free-kick from almost the half-way line, Keller is perfectly positioned at the far post and instinctively strokes the ball into the net after a punch from Reimann. Dresden go into the break with a slender - but vital - lead!

Strong Set Pieces
This time Dynamo delivers a corner kick from the left to the near post and again there is confusion in the FCM's penalty area. However, Reimann is able to pluck a subsequent cross out of the air.
43'
FCM player goes down
Pesch is unintentionally struck in the face by Rossipal during a challenge and requires treatment.
41'
Constant pressure from hosts
The home side are completely taking command here. Zukowski in particular is repeatedly available for passes. The striker arrived injured in Magdeburg at the beginning of September, only making his debut at the end of November. Since then, he has already scored six times - more than any other Bundesliga 2 player during this period!
38'
Post again!
Pesch has a chance to finish centrally in front of goal, but he mishits the ball. It seems to work in his favour though, as the ball very slowly rolls towards the goal and completely surprises Schreiber, who is already sat down by the shot. Everyone watches the ball as it hits the post for a second time!
34'
Dresden are back on level terms!
The away side have the perfect response to going behind. After Vermeij's shot, there's a corner, and it's a good one. Rossipal delivers the ball from the right with his left foot to the near post, where it slips past Reimann. At the far post, Amoako misses the initial shot but is able to ruthlessly smash the rebound from the crossbar into the net from a few yards out.

Zukowski redeems himself!
With his third big chance in this match, Zukowski puts Magdeburg ahead in this East German derby. The forward benefits from a perfect Atik cross, which is delivered from the left into the near-post. Zukowski makes the run and connects with the inside of his left foot, smashing the ball past Schreiber into the net.

Zukowski again!
The FCM striker has another chance with a header, but can't place the ball accurately enough.

9'
Painful one for Çeka
Atik catches the Dresden forward on the ankle in a tough challenge. It seems to hurt him, but he quickly recovers.
6'
First good chance!
The visitors counter quickly after winning the ball, and Vermeij sends Lemmer on his way on the left side of the penalty area. Lemmer has a clear shot at goal in front of Reimann but smashes the ball just over the crossbar.
4'
Magdeburg put under pressure
Reimann is put under pressure in his own penalty area and can only knock the ball into touch. The visitors' pressing is working well.
2'
Strong start from the visitors
Dresden are getting into the game well here and establishing themselves in Magdeburg's half. They'll want to try and take a bit of the sting out of this crackling atmosphere in the early stages.

Never again
On 27 January 1945, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp was liberated. Since 2004, football matches in Germany around 27 January have become a symbol of remembrance for all of the people who were persecuted, deported and murdered under National Socialism.
Slight delay
Due to some smoke drifting onto the pitch, kick-off will be delayed for a short period.
Tribute kit for Dresden
In memory of the deceased Dynamo legend Hans-Jürgen "Dixie" Dörner, the visitors are wearing a special kit today and are turning out all in black.

Table talk
It's been a tough season so far for the two East German clubs, who are separated by just four points. However, a recent uptick in form (in which they've won four of their last five games) has lifted Magdeburg up to 14th in Bundesliga 2. Dynamo Dresden, meanwhile, are currently mired in 17th, level on points with bottom club Greuther Fürth.

Former flame
Magdeburg's Baris Atik played for Dynamo from 2018 to 2020, scoring six goals in 49 Bundesliga 2 appearances.
Late drama
The only previous Bundesliga 2 encounter between the sides at the MDCC-Arena ended 2-2 (October 2018). Dynamo blew a 2-0 lead and missed a stoppage time penalty at 2-1 up, before Marius Bülter scored a late equaliser for 2-2.
Series broken
For Magdeburg, it was their first victory against Dresden in 18 years, dating back to a 1-0 home win in the Regionalliga in 2007. Dynamo had gone unbeaten in seven competitive matches against Magdeburg until then, most recently winning at the MDCC-Arena in a 3. Liga game in February 2021.
