Fortuna favous Jóhannesson!

Noll guesses the right way, but the penalty has too much power and precision. What a time to retake the lead!

Penalty!

Fürth lose the ball in the centre. Johannesson takes it in his stride and is brought down in the box. What a chance to seal the win for Fortuna...
88'

Last-gasp winner?

Can either team score the decisive goal? Last week, Düsseldorf equalised in stoppage time. However, the super-sub has already been substituted off...
86'

Good individual effort

Massimo charges into the box with great pace, takes on several opponents, but then loses control of the ball.

Corner

Fürth attempt a short corner. However, Hrgota's delivery ends up at the feet of an opposition player.

Wasteful!

Kastenmeier punches a cross straight to Motika, who makes a mess of his back-heeled attempt.
72'

That must be it!

What a bizarre scene. Four Fürth defenders let three Düsseldorf players run a goal. Gavory is through and rounds the keeper, but sends his attempt off target!
70'

Tame

Chances have been few and far between since the restart.
65'

Noll stretches out

Düsseldorf are on the move once again as Rossmann delivers a dangerous ball into the box, but Noll is there. Crucial intervention.

Too central

Half-time: Fürth 1-1 Düsseldorf

What a finish to the half after not much action. Fürth were the dominant team, but there weren't many clear-cut chances for a while. Then Haag scores with a powerful header for Düsseldorf, and straight back on the counterattack, Srbeny equalises.

Second yellow for Azzouzi

Rachid Azzouzi complains repeatedly on the touchline, sees yellow, continues to complain, and receives a second yellow card resulting in a red.
45'

The equaliser on the counter-attack

Fortuna's joy is short-lived! Massimo delivers a high ball into the box from the left side. Oberdorf controls the ball and plays it precisely Srbeny who simply taps it in.

Goal!

That's what you call efficiency. Düsseldorf enters the opposition penalty area dangerously for the first time. After a cross from the left side, Haag rises high but doesn't connect properly with his header. The ball dips into the top corner. No chance for Noll.

Short on chances

The situation remains unchanged. The match is intense, but without any clear-cut chances.
37'

Futkeu!

That should have been the lead. Green crosses from the left half-space into the penalty area. Futkeu is completely unmarked on the penalty spot and heads the ball wide of the goal.
37'

Good first start

It's Haag's first time in the starting eleven. The Frenchman is doing well, hasn't misplaced a pass so far and has won two-thirds of his duels.
34'

Over the bar

Hrgota finds himself free on the right side of the penalty area. The Fürth captain delivers a cross, which reaches Massimo via a deflection. He tries to turn and shoot, but it comes to nothing.

Many challenges, few chances

There have been no significant opportunities in the opening phases.
11'

Almost something for Düsseldorf

There's an invitation that allows Düsseldorf to become attack for the first time. Kownacki picks up a misplaced pass, builds up speed and then lays it off to Niemiec. The ball slips off his boot.
9'

Nothing from the away side yet

Düsseldorf has been virtually non-existent in attack so far. Their moves usually break down at the halfway line.
7'

Fürth increase the pressure

Hrgota initiates the next attack, playing Futkeu free in the centre. But a Düsseldorf interception disrupts things.
4'

Fürth wins the ball in midfield. Hrgota tries a shot from the centre, but the attempt is blocked. Green follows up with another shot, with the same result.

More on those teams

After the disappointing 0-2 loss in Braunschweig, Fürth's manager Alexander Zorniger makes three changes to his starting line up. Marco Meyerhöfer, Luca Itter and Dennis Srbeny start today in place of Gießelmann, Münz and Mustapha. Daniel Thioune also makes three changes and rewards Jona Niemiec for the late equaliser against Cologne last week. Additionally, Haag and Fridriksson rotate into the starting line-up. Iyoha, Klaus and Schmidt are initially on the bench.

Düsseldorf starting XI

Kastenmeier - Fridriksson, Hoffmann, Oberdorf, Gavory - Zimmermann, Haag, Niemiec, Johannesson, Rossmann - Kownacki

Fürth starting XI

Noll - Meyerhöfer, Jung, Dietz - Massimo, Bansé, Green, L. Itter, Hrgota - Srbeny, Futkeu
camera-photo

Zorniger on Düsseldorf

"We're playing against an opponent whose greatest achievement so far, I believe, is that they're repeating last year's performance, that they're right back in it after such a near-miss promotion. They're playing it cool, and we need to be prepared for that."
camera-photo

Thioune on Fürth

"Fürth play very intense football under Alexander Zorniger. They defend aggressively and high up the pitch – and they do so for 90 minutes. I'm currently considering changing the starting eleven to bring new dynamics into our game. Overall, in Fürth, we need to play focused, full-throttle football from the first minute. Then we might present a better image at the Ronhof than we have in the past."

Good run

Fürth have won all of their last eight home matches against Düsseldorf. Fortuna's only away victory at was a 2-0 win in the Bundesliga in September 2012.

Home advantage

In 26 second-division encounters between the two teams, there has not been a single away win (in Fürth, ten home wins and three draws; in Düsseldorf, six home wins and seven draws).
camera-photo

Snapping the streak

With the 1-0 victory in their last encounter on 20 April 2024, Düsseldorf ended a streak of 10 consecutive matches without a win against Fürth (four draws, six defeats) - the goalscorer was Vincent Vermeij.

Level pegging

Last season, both encounters between these teams ended with a 1-0 home win.
