It won't go down as a classic but Union Berlin did enough to deserve three points against a spirited yet somewhat blunt Wolfsburg. Hollerbach, a constant thorn in the visitors side throughout, was a fitting match-winner. Three points take Union closer to guaranteed safety.

Wolfsburg make sweeping changes

Hasenhüttl wields the axe following last weekend's 1-0 home defeat to Heidenheim. Vranckx and Odogu come into the defence in place of injured centre-back pairing Koulierakis and Bornauw. Wimmer drops back into midfield in place of Dárdai, who's benched. It's a completely fresh attacking trio, too, with Kamiński, Wind and Amoura up top against Union. Tomás and Olsen placed among the subs.

Union change one

Baumgart has made just the one alteration from the starting XI that won 2-1 away against Freiburg last weekend, with Schäfer returning to the capital club's attack in place of Jeong. He'll be hoping for another top performance from his charges today.

Union starting XI

Rønnow - Doekhi, Querfeld, Leite - Trimmel (c), Haberer, Khedira, Juranović - Schäfer, Hollerbach - Ilić

Union subs

Schwolow, Vogt, Rothe, Roussillon, Bénes, Skarke, Tousart, Prtajin, Ljubicic

Wolfsburg starting XI

Grabara - Mæhle, Vranckx, Odogu, Fischer – Wimmer, Arnold (c), Gerhardt – Kamiński, Wind, Amoura

Wolfsburg subs

Baumgart on facing Wolfsburg

"Wolfsburg are a very, very good team who have been involved in fighting for European places for a long time, and want to get back there, even if recent results haven’t been too positive. We know all about their qualities but we also know what our own strengths are.”

Hasenhüttl on facing Union

"In the first half of the season, Union sat back very deep and defended really well. Even with their new coach they’re still very good at doing that. They’re really direct going forward. You can see that the coach doesn’t want them to take risks at the back but to get into the opposition’s half as quickly as possible. They do that very well. They’re very aggressive and energetic when trying to recover possession.”

Expect goals... but not too many

This will be these two teams' 12th meeting in the Bundesliga. There has never been a goalless draw amongst the elite, but only once has either side managed more than two goals in a single game.

Mid-table

While eight points separate the two teams in the table, these teams find themselves in and around the middle of the table. Wolfsburg are still in with a chance of Europe, but are still four points behind the top six, while Union's have put some distance between themselves and the bottom three and can breathe a little easier.
