Full-time: Darmstadt 3-0 Karlsruhe
Darmstadt secure a comfortable and deserved victory against Karlsruhe. Although the visitors had an xGoals value of 1.62, the Lilies were more dangerous throughout much of the match. Especially after the break, they exploited the space made available to them and romped to victory.

Karlsruhe's heaviest defeat of the season?
This would be Karlsruhe's heaviest defeat this season, and their biggest since November 2023 - when they also lost 3-0 at home against Paderborn.

Nearly 4-0!
Lakenmacher almost extends the advantage further! On this occasion, Weiß finally gets a chance to shine again, parrying it away to the side.
84'
Papela's first
He scores for the first time in his 26th competitive match for Darmstadt. His last goals was in April 2023 when he was still playing for Sandhausen, against Regensburg.
81'
Triple substitution for Darmstadt
Müller, Lidberg and Hornby leave the pitch with their jobs done.
79'
The decisive moment!
As ever. the danger comes down the right as Darmstadt surely wrap up the points. This time, Corredor pace is important as he dances past Günther before laying it back to Papela. Unlike Corredor earlier, Papela shoots immediately, and Weiß is once again powerless to stop it.
78'
First a goal, then an assist
After scoring the goal, now also an assist - Lidberg has thus been involved in 18 goals in his 19 appearances this term.
76'
Darmstadt unleashed
Now, the home team have even more space as Karlsruhe look for a way back into this one. Hornby is involved time and again, but this time the pass towards his strike partner Lidberg goes astray.
73'
Corredor doubles the lead!
After Karlsruhe lose possession, Darmstadt strike quickly, just like they did for the opening goal. Hornby shows great vision and switches play to Lidberg on the right flank. He takes a few steps before laying it back to Corredor, who dribbles past Beifus and then slots it cleanly into the bottom corner.

Substitutes link up
Jensen cleverly flicks the ball on with his heel to Ben Farhat, who shoots immediately. His right-footed effort grazes his left foot, though, causing the ball to bobble towards Schuhen, who gratefully collects it. Nevertheless, a good start from the two new players!
66'
Darmstadt make a change
The very noticeable Boëtius makes way for Marseiler, who finally gets his chance.
64'
Triple substitution
Among others, Kobald leaves the pitch after having a head-to-head collision with a Darmstadt player.
63'
Kaufmann!
Karlsruhe's first attempt in the second half! Kaufmann shoots from a tight angle and Schuhen can only parry the powerful shot forward, but a teammate is there to clear.
62'
Next counter-attack unfolds
Darmstadt are enjoying space down the right, and this time Lidberg is the beneficiary. He also passes low into the centre, but Hornby can't reach the ball.
62'
No substitution after all?
It seems Hornby might be able to continue. Marseiler had already been warming up.
59'
That was close
Hornby remains on the pitch and creates more danger! His sharp cross in front of the goal is narrowly missed by Corredor, while at the other end, Lidberg takes a direct shot but Weiß is there to make the save.
57'
Hornby down
After López's build-up play, Hornby had a go from distance, but he seems to have hurt himself in the attempt and will likely be substituted.
56'
Fizzles out
The Darmstadt supporters sense a glimmer of hope as they see how López receive the ball in plenty of space. However, the defender immediately turns and plays it back to his teammate behind him.
52'
Wide
On the second attempt, the resulting corner falls to Riedel's feet. His low shot slips through everyone, is also deflected, narrowly missing the right post.
50'
Beifus sees yellow
The Karlsuhe defender is late into his challenge on Boëtius, painfully catching him on the ankle. The Darmstadt player recovers and sets the ball for the free-kick himself, but Karlsruhe clear it for a corner.
48'
Crosses into nothingness
Darmstadt continues to show offensive activity, but neither a cross from the right nor one from the left finds anyone in the centre.
46'
Bitter blow for Rapp
The midfielder picked up his 10th booking of the season in the first half, meaning he will have to serve his second suspension due to yellow card accumulation in next week's match against Ulm.

We're back underway!
Both teams are back on the pitch without any personnel changes. Karlsruhe kick off the second half.

Half-time: Darmstadt 1-0 Karlsruhe
After a rather quiet first five minutes, Rapp and Franke had the chance to put Karlruhe in the lead. However, it was Darmstadt's top scorer Lidberg who scored for the Lilies, only needing to tap in after Boëtius' shot hit the crossbar. Overall, the home team deservedly lead at half-time, but they should be cautious - Karlsruhe have already gained 18 points this season after being 0-1 down, more than any other team.

Space for Lidberg
The goalscorer receives the ball into feet but his opponent, Kobald, skilfully forces him out wide, thus neutralising the danger.

Darmstadt in control
40'
Blocked shot
Boëtius tries his luck from the edge of the penalty area, and his attempt would have likely been quite dangerous if Franke hadn't jumped into the ball's path at the last moment.
37'
Typical striker
Lidberg has had the fewest touches of the ball for the Lilies so far (11), yet he's the man who has made the difference.
36'
Another injury interruption
Weiß has been caught after a Darmstadt corner and he's holding his calf. After brief treatment, he's able to continue playing.
33'
Darmstadt more alert
The number of turnovers is not particularly low, and the home side are taking good advantage of Karlsruhe's mistakes by winning the ball back six seconds faster than the visitors.

First booking
Rapp scythes down Corredor near the Darmstadt dugout, and Prigan brandishes a yellow card.
29'
Too unselfish
Kaufmann makes his way towards Schuhen and finds himself in a promising shooting position, but opts to pass instead. It fails to reach its required target - it could be argued that taking a shot would have been the wiser choice.
24'
Whistle blows
Wanitzek receives a high ball, which he controls well. However, he then commits an offensive foul, and referee Prigan blows his whistle to stop the action.
23'
Karlsruhe trailing early once again
For the visitors, the opener was the 10th goal conceded in the opening quarter of an hour of games this season - a league-high.
21'
Darmstadt retreat a little
Karlsruhe seem to have overcome the setback and are seeing more of the ball. Currently, though, they can't create anything dangerous from it.

Darmstadt looking good
Early on, both teams have struggled somewhat to find their way forward, but now Darmstadt have the edge. Karlsruhe need to regroup at the moment.
12'
Lidberg at the dozen
That is the 12th goal of the season for the Swede - he moves up to fourth place in the top scorers list, with only Selke, Kaars and Sylla having scored more often.
10'
Darmstadt in front!
The hosts attack down the right for the first time - and with immediate success! A cross finds Hornby, who lays it off to Boëtius, and his header while falling hits the crossbar. Darmstadt are then quicker to the second ball and it falls right at Lidberg's feet. He doesn't hesitate and slots home with ease.
6'
Double chance for Karlsruhe!
The visitors create space on the left before Burnić's low cross is deflected by Müller for a corner. The set-piece swings dangerously into the penalty area and Rapp fires off a free volley that visibly surprises Schuhen. He can only parry back into a dangerous area, but Franke is denied by the crossbar of the Darmstadt goal.
4'
Schuhen is also wide awake
Herold's cross goes slightly awry and flies directly into Schuhen's hands, who plucks the ball safely out of the air.
2'
First attempt
Lidberg holds off Franke down the left and passes the ball inside. It eventually reaches Corredor, who takes a shot, but keeper Weiß secures it safely.

Good omen for Karlsruhe?
Felix Prigan is the referee for this match. He is just 26 years old, with half of the 22 starting players today older than him, while it is his 10th match in Bundesliga 2. Prigan is already officiating Karlsruhe for the third time and, so far, he has been a lucky charm - they won against Regensburg and Elversberg.
Herold replaces Günther
There's also just one change for the visitors, as Herold comes in for Günther on the left.
Captain back on board
Only once change for Darmstadt from their 4-1 defeat in Magdeburg. Captain Riedel, suspended last week due to an accumulation of yellow cards, returns, with Maglica making way for him.
Karlsruhe starting XI
Weiß - Kobald, Franke, Beifus - Jung, Rapp, Herold - Burnić, Wanitzek - Schleusener, Kaufmann
Darmstadt starting XI
Schuhen - López, Riedel, Müller, Vukotić, Bueno - Papela - Boëtius, Corredor - Lidberg, Hornby
Kohfeldt's thoughts
"We need a mixture of energy, directness and patience to prepare our play. Against the ball, we need a mix of aggressive pressing and vigilance. We must always keep in mind that Karlsuhe can make a lot out of little."
Christian Eichner on facing Darmstadt
"We should keep things in perspective. Give us four or five weeks before we all start running jubilantly through Karlsruhe because we're playing with three at the back and have won two matches."
Former players in focus
Karlsruhe defensive chief Marcel Franke played for the Lilies in the 2018/19 season and made 25 second-tier appearances (two goals). Luca Pfeiffer, meanwhile, was was Darmstadt's top scorer in the 2021/22 Bundesliga 2 season with 17 goals.
No away-day troubles for Karlsruhe in Darmstadt
Karlsruhe have picked up points in eleven of their last twelve away matches at the Böllenfalltor (six wins, five draws). The 2-1 victory in April 2023 was Darmstadt's first home win against Karlsruhe since 1980.
Can Darmstadt continue streak?
Darmstadt have collected eight points from their last four matches against Karlsruhe, remaining unbeaten in the process.
Schleusener: the Lillies' nemesis
Fabian Schleusener scored the equaliser in the 3-3 reverse fixture draw, making that a fourth consecutive game in which he has found against Darmstadt. In total, Schleusener has scored six goals in 10 second-tier matches against the hosts, more than against any other club in Bundesliga 2.
