Full-time: Ulm 0-0 Elversberg

After Elversberg struggled to create anything in the first, Ulm were the same in the second. All in all, though, there were hardly any chances on either side. For a long time, the only excitement was the disallowed goal for Ulm from a corner, which was ruled out due to an offside. In the closing stages, both teams threatened more, but ultimately without success. The Sparrows missed on what would have been an important win as a result.

Hardly any flow to the game

Since the disallowed goal, hardly anything has happened in the attacking areas. Instead, the teams are passing the ball back and forth in midfield. Every attempt to attack is nipped in the bud, mostly through fouls or misplaced passes.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
A number of smaller chances have at least led to an xGoals value of over one.

Ulm without Strompf and Krattenmacher

In addition to the suspended Maurice Krattenmacher, the Sparrows must also do without their defensive leader Philipp Strompf today. Jo Reichert and Bastian Allgeier are new to the team. For Allgeier, it's his first start since Matchday 15; he has only been on the pitch for five minutes in the second half of the season so far.

Feil and Şahin in for Elvserberg

The visitors make two changes from their home win against Fürth as Manuel Feil returns to the starting line-up for the first time since November, replacing the suspended Lukas Petkov. Also new to the team is Semih Şahin, who plays in place of Carlo Sickinger (bench).

Elversberg starting XI

Kristof - Baum, Pinckert, Rohr, Neubauer - Fellhauer, Şahin - Feil, Damar, Zimmerschied - Asllani

Referees wear black armbands

The elite referees of the German Football Association are mourning the loss of former head referee Volker Roth and will wear black armbands this weekend. Roth passed away on Monday at the age of 83.

Horst Steffen on facing Ulm

"We want to perform differently this time and be better than in the reverse fixture. To do that, we also need to turn the key moments in our favour. If we manage that, I see us capable of getting something out of the match on Saturday and improving our record against Ulm."

Thomas Wörle on facing Elversberg

"Elversberg currently have the fourth-best attack and the fifth-best defence, so they are doing well in both directions. They are a team that, especially in attack, is among the most technically gifted in the league."

Growing together

In Elversberg's last regional league match against Ulm - at the end of 2021 - five players who were in the starting XI that day are still with the team now. Neubauer, Fellhauer, Schnellbacher, Lehmann and Feil all started the game, while Kristof and Şahin were on the bench.

Dominant at home

Ulm have emerged victorious in six of their seven home matches against Elversberg, with the only exception being a 2-1 win for SVE in August 2019 in the Regionalliga Südwest.

Record favours Ulm

Previously, both teams met 14 times in the Regionalliga, with Ulm clearly ahead in the overall record: 10 wins for SSV, one draw and four wins for SVE. Elversberg last won against Ulm in December 2021.

The first success

In the first half of the season, Ulm celebrated their first victory of the season in the reverse fixture. They won 3-1 and ended a run of collecting just one point from their first five matches.
