Full time: Bremen 1-1 Cologne

The spoils were shared in an entertaining game between two mid-table teams already safe from relegation and unable to qualify for Europe. Steffen Tigges opened the scoring for Cologne in the first half but Romano Schmid equalised for the hosts in the closing stages to leave each with a point apiece.

Bremen: personnel

Bremen are confident star man Niclas Füllkrug (pictured) will feature in some capacity following an injury which has kept the Germany international out of the last five matchdays. Romano Schmid and Maximilian Philipp are in contention if Füllkrug can't start. The returning Christian Groß will again fight with Ilia Gruev for a place in central midfield.

Bremen: form

The hosts still aren't mathematically safe but it would take something incredible for Ole Werner's team to make an immediate return to the second division. Their form this year, though, has been a major concern; they have one win from their last 10 in the top flight, losing seven times in the process. Four successive losses on home soil is another worry.

Cologne: personnel

The red-hot Davies Selke (pictured) is available again after a clash of heads last weekend but Steffen Baumgart announced on Thursday that he'll make way for Steffen Tigges in Bremen. The coach also confirmed he will make a second change with Benno Schmitz back from suspension and in for Kingsley Schindler on the right of defence. One matter Baumgart has been considering is a farewell to goalkeeper Timo Horn after over 20 years at the club. He would prefer to do it in the final home game next week against Bayern, but not in a way that could impact the title race if still to be settled. Captain Jonas Hector is also set to play his penultimate game before retiring.

Cologne: form

The Billy Goats have lost just one of their last seven (W4, D2, L1) and are making a strong end to the campaign, albeit one they can end eighth at the very best. Steffen Baumgart's side have won their last two in the league and each of their previous three away from home.

Watch: Cologne 5-2 Hertha Berlin - highlights

Cologne delivered a sparkling performance in front of their own fans last Friday, peppering the Hertha Berlin goal throughout and firing five.

Füllkrug feat looms

Niclas Füllkrug - with 16 goals this season - is within sight of becoming the fifth Werder Bremen player to be crowned Bundesliga top scorer - and first since Miroslav Klose in 2006.

Don't leave early

Werder Bremen have scored the most goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this season (19) but have also conceded the joint most late goals (18).

Take two

Werder Bremen have conceded two goals in each of their past eight Bundesliga matches. That curious run has only ever previously been seen with Wolfsburg in 2006/07.

Deadly Selke

Cologne striker Davie Selke is officially the most efficient Bundesliga striker at the moment - getting four goals in his last four games from a combined expected goals figure of 0.8.

Cologne away streak

Cologne have won their past three Bundesliga away matches. Their club record is four away wins in succession - a feat they have not achieved since 1992.

Bremen almost over the line

With a five-point cushion on the relegation zone and only two games to go, Bremen are creeping closer to securing a second successive season of Bundesliga football. Various combinations of results involving the six teams below them could see them safe, but a win at home to Cologne would remove the need to consider events elsewhere. For their part, the visiting Billy Goats cannot finish lower than 13th or higher than eighth.
