Schalke and Nuremberg fans have shared a remarkable official fan friendship dating back to the 1980s, despite a distance of over 400km between the clubs. It all appears to have started when two Nuremberg fans and a Schalke supporter started chatting on a train.

Schalke (seven) and Nuremberg (nine) have a proud 16 German titles between them as former giants of the game. Between 1934 and 1937, they both made three out of four German championship finals, with Schalke winning two finals against Nuremberg in that period. The two clubs are also connected by one of the oldest fan friendships in German football.
