World Cup stars of the Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown
Despite only making his Germany debut in October 2025, Eintracht Frankfurt's Nathaniel Brown is now playing an important role for Julian Nagelsmann's side at the FIFA World Cup 2026.

How was his 2025/26 season?
Brown was one of the most dependable fixtures in an up-and-down season for Frankfurt, remaining as a regular starter under Albert Riera, contributing four goals and assists apiece while wearing the captain's armband in a narrow 3-2 defeat at Bayern Munich.

What he brings to the national team
There is plenty of competition for the left-back berth in Nagelsmann’s starting XI, with RB Leipzig’s David Raum also in the mix. However, Brown, who was also eligible to represent the USA through his father, appears to be Nagelsmann's first-choice at this summer's tournament.
Combining pace, a fearless attitude in the tackle and a willingness to get forward at every opportunity, there's a lot to like about Brown's game. That much was evident in Germany's opening Group E game against Curaçao, in which he registered a goal and an assist in a 7-1 win. He impressed again in their 2-1 comeback win over the Ivory Coast, before missing their final group game against Ecuador through injury.
What his coaches say
“He brings a lot to the table, has great dynamism, is very fast, very creative, has good composure on the ball, and is increasingly developing a leadership mentality. During a difficult period, he was the player in Frankfurt, among those in contention for the national team, who consistently delivered the most reliable performances over a long period. He was very, very consistent.” - Nagelsmann
"He has fantastic qualities. Good players can play anywhere, and Brown will be important for us in every position. Sometimes as a full-back and sometimes on the wing, but he'll also play a major role in the centre." - former Frankfurt coach Albert Riera
