Before making his way into Borussia Dortmund’s academy, Almugera Kabar started his journey into professional football with Hammer SpVg. This same youth side also produced former Heidenheim and current Freiburg star Jan-Niklas Beste, as well as former Germany international Mike Hanke, who made almost 300 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke and Borussia Mönchengladbach, among others.
Kabar joined the youth ranks of Dortmund in 2019, and it didn’t take long for him to impress, indeed, the versatile left-sided player was soon selected for Germany’s youth teams. He began his journey with the national team at U16 level and currently represents the U19 side. In his time with the U17’s, Kabar won both the European Championship and World Cup in 2023.
The Bremen native started the final of Germany’s U17 European Championship triumph, alongside current Bundesliga younsters Finn Jeltsch (Stuttgart), Max Moerstedt (Hoffenheim) and Assan Ouédraogo (RB Leipzig).
His consistent performances for both club and country at youth level saw him rewarded with his first-team debut for Dortmund this season, when he came on as a late substitute against Augsburg on Matchday 8. He has since made three further appearances for the senior side, the most recent of which came against Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 16.

Both Davies and Kabar are tall, athletic left-backs who love to dribble and drive their teams up the pitch. Their athleticism is blended with an eye for a pass, and the ability to deliver some tantalising crosses.

In 2023, Kabar was named among the 60 best young football talents by the Guardian. The list contains names such as Real Madrid’s Endrick and PSG’s Warren Zaïre-Emery, as well other Bundesliga talents such as Kabar’s teammate Julien Duranville and Bayern Munich starlet Nestory Irankunda.
