To say Luis Díaz hit the ground running at Bayern Munich after his summer move from Liverpool would be an understatement of gargantuan proportions. We look back on a dream debut season at the Allianz Arena for the Colombia international.

Impact
After netting the Bavarians’ crucial second goal in their 2-1 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup victory over VfB Stuttgart back in August, Díaz went on to score in each of his first three Bundesliga appearances for the club – but that was merely the start of a prolific 2025/26 campaign.

Part of a devastating forward line featuring Harry Kane and Michael Olise, the Colombian continued to churn out goals and assists with astonishing regularity, scoring 15  times and setting up another 13 in the top flight. Only Kane and Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav have found the net more often this term, while only Olise has laid on more goals.

While Díaz found himself in and out of the starting XI during his time at Anfield, he has been a near ever-present in Munich. The winger has started all but three of the Bundesliga games he has been available for, his raw pace and trickery on the ball adding a fresh dimension to the record champions’ formidable attack. He has also played an integral role in the cup competitions, helping Vincent Kompany’s side reach the semi-finals of the DFB Cup and the last four of the UEFA Champions League.

Standout moment
Díaz was sensational in Bayern’s magnificent 5-1 win over Hoffenheim in February, scoring his first hat-trick and winning two penalties in a statement Matchday 21 win – but his astonishing effort in November’s 2-2 draw at Union Berlin takes some beating.

Having somehow managed to prevent Josip Stanišić’s overhit pass from rolling behind for a goal-kick, Díaz swiftly clambered back to his feet, knocked the ball past Janik Haberer and, from a seemingly impossible angle, arrowed a shot past goalkeeper Frederik Rønnow and into the top corner.

What Kompany has said...
“Luis was already a big part of one of the most intense teams in Europe, playing for Liverpool. Coming to us, he has given us his personality and his energy on the pitch. He fits in really well with what we try to tell as a story on the pitch.”

What Díaz has said...
“It’s been spectacular. I feel really comfortable here, coming into a great team, a great club and a great institution. They’ve made me feel at home, among family. I’m really happy here, and my family is really happy here as well.”
