RB Leipzig striker Loïs Openda joins Juventus
Loïs Openda has made a deadline-day switch to Juventus, RB Leipzig have confirmed.
The Belgium international has joined the Italian giants on an initial loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.
Leipzig managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer said: "Loïs has made a name for himself over the last two years at RB Leipzig due to his many crucial goals and assists, and has been able to prove his quality as a player. We are very grateful to him for the strong performances that he's shown while here. This move to Juventus offers him the chance to take up an exciting new challenge in Italy, and we wish him all the best for a successful time there."
Openda joined Leipzig from RC Lens in the summer of 2023 and immediately hit the ground running at the Red Bull Arena. His first season ended with 28 goals in all competitions, including 24 in the Bundesliga - only Harry Kane and Serhou Guirassy managed more that term.
The 2024/25 campaign was less prolific, but Openda still managed 13 goals for the club. All in all, he departs the Saxony-based outfit departs having scored 41 goals in 93 matches across all competitions.
Openda is the 13th player to leave the club this summer, with Benjamin Šeško and Xavi Simons the biggest-name departures following their transfers to Manchester United and Tottenham in the English Premier League respectively.
Leipzig have had a mixed start to the season, beating Sandhausen in the DFB Cup and defeating Heidenheim either side of a 6-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
