The new arrival is one of eight fresh faces at the Red Bull Arena this summer - not including new head coach Ole Werner - with himself and Rômulo brought in as striker reinforcements following Benjamin Šeško's switch to English Premier League outfit Manchester United. Loïs Openda, meanwhile, joined Juventus on a deadline day loan.

Harder, a 20-year-old Denmark international, has signed a five-year deal.

"In Conrad, we've signed a striker who perfectly suits our profile," said Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

"He's tall, physically and mentally strong, aggressive, with a lot of pace and a very dangerous left foot. He's also got international experience.

"His power, understanding of the game and dynamism with add impetus to our attack. We believe that he'll settle in here quickly and take the next step in his development."

Harder, who scored 35 goals in 37 games for Nordsjælland's U19s in his homeland, joined Sporting in the summer of 2024.

He scored 11 goals in 47 games for the club last term, including five in seven Portuguese Cup outings, with one of those strikes coming in the final victory over Benfica.

"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge at RB Leipzig," Harder enthused.

"The Bundesliga is a top league where I can continue to improve and prove myself. I hope I can score lots of goals and want to help achieve our goals as part of this team.

"I can hardly wait to play in front of the fans at the Red Bull Arena and will give my all for the team."

Leipzig have had a mixed start to the 2025/26 season, beating Sandhausen in the DFB Cup first round and defeating Heidenheim either side of a 6-0 loss to defending champions Bayern Munich.

They go to Mainz in their first fixture back from the international break on 13 September.
