
History beckons: The records that could be broken in 2025/26
A new season means new records are there to be set, and more milestones are there to be reached. Here's a look at some of the more notable ones...
13 - Bayern Munich wrapped up their 34th Bundesliga title after Matchday 32 in 2024/25, and finished their title-winning season 13 points ahead of runners up Bayer Leverkusen.
27 - As impressive as that is, they've managed better in the past, sealing the 2013/14 Bundesliga title on Matchday 27!
91 - The previous 2012/13 season saw them win the treble, setting the Bundesliga points record in the process with 91, as they finished 25 points clear of rivals Borussia Dortmund.

101 - Bayern scored 99 times on their way to claiming the Meisterchale in 2024/25, just two shy of the record set by the club's 1971/72 crop, which stands at 101 goals. Harry Kane scored 26 of those, finishing as top scorer for the second consecutive season.
41 - Will Kane surpass Robert Lewandowski's single-season goal record of 41, set in 2020/21?
884 - The current record for minutes played without conceding a goal still lies with former VfB Stuttgart and Schalke goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand, who managed to go 884 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in 2003.
21- On the topic of former Schalke stoppers, Bayern captain Manuel Neuer currently holds the record for most clean sheets in a season, racking up 21 in 2015/16.

6- Six teams have new coaches ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, with Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, Wolfsburg, Augsburg, Cologne and Werder Bremen all appointing a fresh face to their dugouts
1- Apart from Ole Werner at Leipzig, none of the other new managers, such as Erik Ten Hag or Horst Steffen, have managed in the Bundesliga before.
2,000 - Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart will both hit the 2,000-game mark in 2025/26, with each currently at 1968 Bundesliga matches, while Augsburg will reach the 500-game mark (currently on 476).
750 - New boys Hamburg and Julian Schuster's Freiburg could both achieve historics wins in 2025/26, with the Red Shorts just four victories short of 750, while Freiburg are 20 shy of 300 wins in the top tier.

500 - Oliver Baumann has so far made 489 Bundesliga appearances, meaning he could pass the 500-game threshold this season.
200 - At Dortmund, Julian Brandt, currently at 188, will aim to celebrate his 200th league win, while his boss Niko Kovač will oversee his 200th game as a head coach in the Bundesliga, with the Croatian having already taken charge of 195.
200 - Eintracht Frankfurt star Mario Götze could also break the 200-win mark, but needs at least 20 victories with the Eagles. His coach, Dino Toppmöller, could celebrate a century of Bundesliga games this season, having already made 68 touchline appearances.
