St. Pauli dismiss head coach Alexander Blessin
St. Pauli have parted ways with head coach Alexander Blessin following the Hamburg club's relegation from the Bundesliga.
Blessin, 53, took charge of St. Pauli after their promotion as 2023/24 Bundesliga 2 champions following a 13-year absence from the top flight. The Kiezkicker avoided relegation by three points in his first season, but dropped back to the second tier on the final day of the 2025/26 campaign.
"We're grateful to Alex for his excellent and passionate work over the past two years. He successfully implemented the necessary adjustments to the higher division, enabling us to avoid relegation in our first season," commented sporting director Andreas Bornemann.
"There's no doubting his qualities as a coach. However, following our analysis, we have come to the conclusion that parting ways and making a fresh start with full conviction this summer is the right course of action."
