Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan to leave Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have announced that both Niklas Süle and Salih Özcan will leave the club once their contracts expire at the end of the season.
Süle, 29, joined Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2022 but has struggled to hit his best form after a string of injuries and made only 108 competitive appearances in almost four years.
Özcan, 28, arrived the same summer from Cologne and has played 92 times in black and yellow, also having a six-month spell on loan at Wolfsburg.
CEO Lars Ricken confirmed the decision on the Friday ahead of BVB’s Matchday 26 fixture at home to Augsburg. “We held very open and appreciative talks with both this week. In the end, we agreed with both Niklas and Salih that we’ll go our separate ways at the end of the season,” he told Ruhr Nachrichten.
The pair will follow Julian Brandt out the door at Signal Iduna Park after the earlier news that he also won’t have his contract extended beyond the 2025/26 campaign.
In contrast, Ricken has stated that the club will look to renew with captain Emre Can despite his long-term injury, while midfielder Felix Nmecha this week committed to Dortmund through to 2030.

Borussia have nine games remaining this season in the Bundesliga and are currently in second. They already have two confirmed new signings for next term in 18-year-old South American duo Kauã Prates, a left-back from Brazil, and Ecuadorian attacking midfielder Justin Lerma.
