Borussia Dortmund’s Ramy Bensebaini secured FIFA World Cup qualification for Algeria and Bayern Munich’s Nicolas Jackson did the same for Senegal before their Klassiker clash on Matchday 7. They’re among several African Bundesliga players to have secured spots at next summer’s tournament…

Having opened his Bayern account in their UEFA Champions League win over Pafos, Jackson grabbed a goal and assist as Senegal raced to a 5-0 victory over South Sudan on Friday. A 4-0 win against Mauritania on Tuesday then secured their place at the finals.

Jackson was joined by a former Bayern forward Sadio Mané (who netted twice against Mauritania) and ex-Mainz defender Moussa Niakhaté in the Senegal squad, as well as former Cologne full-back Ismail Jakobs.

Algeria called upon five Bundesliga representatives as they sealed World Cup qualification with a 3-0 win in Somalia. Mohamed Amoura opened the scoring with his seventh goal in CAF qualifying, while Bensebaini, Farès ChaïbiIbrahim Maza and Badredine Bouanani were involved in the team and squad.

Ivory Coast, meanwhile, cruised to a resounding 7-0 win over Seychelles with RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande on the scoresheet, plus Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Toure and former Eintracht Frankfurt and Dortmund striker Sébastien Haller coming off the bench. Dimomande netted again in a vital 3-0 win over Kenya that took the Ivorians over the qualifying line.

Led by former Dortmund, Mainz and Hannover midfielder Otto Addo, the Black Stars of Ghana also booked their World Cup ticket with a win over the Comoros. Injured Hamburg defender Warmed Omari wasn’t part of that victory but will now be hoping to regain both fitness and form in a bid to earn his spot in the squad that travels to the Americas.
