Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala among Bayern Munich title winners in Germany squad
Hansi Flick has named his 26-man squad to face Ukraine, Poland and Colombia, with Bayern Munich title winners Joshua Kimmich and Jamal Musiala among a star-studded group.
Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane are also included after Bayern extended their record run as Bundesliga champions to an 11th season, while Julian Brandt is one of four Borussia Dortmund players in the squad after BVB came agonisingly close to reclaiming the Meisterschale.
There is, however, no place for Thomas Müller, while Niclas Füllkrug - fresh from ending the season as the Bundesliga's joint-highest scorer in 2022/23 - keeps his place in attack.
The first game of three will see Germany play its 100th international fixture in a charity match against Ukraine in Bremen on 12 June. They then face Poland on 16 June in Warsaw and finish their three friendlies against Colombia on 20 June in Gelsenkirchen, one of the 10 host cities of the 2024 European Championship in Germany.
Flick said alongside the announcement: "We want to put our upcoming opponents under pressure with a lot of offensive power via the outside players and at the same time be defensively compact with the back three. We're very well positioned for this with our selected squad.
"All our players are enormously motivated, with the aim to give everything for the team and our fans in the next three international matches on the way to the home European Championship. It will be something very special for all of us to be able to play the anniversary game of the national team."
Germany will next play a competitive fixture as they open the tournament as hosts on 14 June next year in Munich. They also announced this week that there will be friendlies against Japan, France and the USA in September and October 2023.
