Jean-Mattéo Bahoya sets new Bundesliga speed record
Jean-Mattéo Bahoya clocked the fastest speed ever recorded in the Bundesliga with a lung-busting sprint in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Matchday 26 fixture away at Bochum.
The 19-year-old France youth international set off the speed gun at 23.09 mph (37.16 km/h) in the 12th minute of the game at the Ruhrstadion, making him the first player in the history of that stat to surpass 23 mph and 37 km/h.
To give you an idea of how fast Bahoya was, the average speed of Usain Bolt’s world-record 100 metre sprint at the 2009 World Championships was 23.35 mph (37.58 km/h).

It’s the fourth time in 2024/25 that the all-time record has been broken in the Bundesliga. Bahoya takes the crown off Heidenheim’s Sirlord Conteh, who took the title early in the campaign and then reclaimed it off Gerrit Holtmann after the Bochum man temporarily usurped him.

Bahoya joined Frankfurt at the end of January 2024 but has only recently forced his way into Dino Toppmöller’s starting XI on the back of some impressive cameo displays. He even marked his record-breaking appearance by netting his first Bundesliga goal with only his fourth shot in the league.
The Frenchman became the 293rd different player to register a goal in the top flight for Eintracht, which is more than any other club in the Bundesliga’s history.
