Fresh from equalling their best-ever Bundesliga finish last season, Eintracht enjoyed a statement win at the start of 2025/26 as Dino Toppmöller's men posted an impressive win with Bahoya and Uzun to the fore against Werder.

Plenty of attention was on exciting Eintracht newcomers Ritsu Dōan and Jonathan Burkardt - making their first Bundesliga starts for the club - but it was Turkey international Uzun who lit up the opening stages of this game with a 22nd-minute goal that flew into the top corner.

Just three minutes later, Uzun turned provider for Bahoya, who angled a fine header home for 2-0.

Second-half solidity

The hosts picked up where they left off after the break, with Bahoya grabbing his second of the afternoon just two minutes into the second half. Once again, Uzun was the architect, sending a precise pass for the French forward to finish with aplomb.

Bremen responded immediately through Justin Njinmah, who latched onto Marco Grüll's pass before rifling a powerful shot past Zetterer to reduce the deficit.

Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the 70th minute, however, when substitute Ansgar Knauff – who had replaced Bahoya just minutes earlier – slotted home from Farès Chaïbi's assist to restore Frankfurt's three-goal cushion and seal an emphatic opening day victory for the hosts.

Bahoya produced a masterclass in finishing to spearhead Frankfurt's impressive victory.

The 19-year-old showcased his predatory instincts with two goals of contrasting styles – a pinpoint header in the first half followed by a composed right-footed finish after the break.
