Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala is determined to come back stronger from long-term injury
After breaking his fibula at this summer's FIFA Club World Cup, Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Jamal Musiala has faced the longest injury lay-off of his career to date, and is now focused on reaching new heights when he does finally return to action.
Musiala sustained the injury during Bayern’s quarter-final with Paris-Saint Germain in the USA and has been working tirelessly on his return ever since.
Now a few months into the rehabilitation process, the midfielder spoke openly about what the recovery journey has been like, and what he hopes to achieve upon his return to first-team action.

"I think you learn a lot of things when you're injured," the midfielder told fcbayern.com. “For example, I see how much fun you usually have and how much I love football.”
“You have time to calmly see what you can do better. On the pitch, you don't have that time to think about everything,” he explained. “And of course I want to come back even better.”
Still just 22-years-old, Musiala has been sorely missed at both club and international level, such is his extraordinary talent. He has already racked up over 200 competitive appearances in Bayern red, as well as 40 caps for Germany.
He’s picked up five Bundesliga titles and lifted the Champions League trophy in that time - the pick of the bunch among a total of 11 major honours collected so far. Nevertheless, Musiala is itching to get back on the pitch, and add even more silverware to his collection.
"You can see how well we're playing at the moment, how much fun they're all having. I want to be part of that and be back on the pitch”.
Despite his boundless enthusiasm there is still a way to go regarding his rehab, a reality that his family have supported him through: "I've been with my family almost all the time since my injury. They've helped me a lot - also to switch off from everything a bit."
The rising star has played a huge part of Bayern's recent successes, bagging 64 goals for the record champions until now, and has his eyes set on spearheading them to even more upon his eventual return.
