Harry Kane: “Bayer Leverkusen are favourites to win the title”
Harry Kane says current Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen “are favourites to win the league”, despite Bayern Munich’s 8-1 thrashing of Mainz on Matchday 25.
Kane hit a hat-trick as Bayern were in merciless mood on Saturday, taking his Bundesliga goal tally to 30 in his debut season, in addition to six assists.
The result kept Thomas Tuchel’s side four points ahead of third-placed VfB Stuttgart, while reducing Leverkusen’s lead to seven points ahead of Die Werkself’s home game against Wolfsburg on Sunday.

“I think realistically, of course, they are favourites to win the league,” the England striker told bundesliga.com after the final whistle.
“I think everyone knows that but all we can do is what we have done today – just win our games. There are around 10 games left. We have to try and win all of them and then see what [Leverkusen] do.
“They’ve had a fantastic season. Credit to them for that. This is always the business end [of the season], this is always the hardest part, so all we can do is try and win our games and hopefully they drop points.”
With Kane in this kind of form – averaging a league goal every 74 minutes – and given Bayern’s history of producing the goods when they need it, that is no mere lip service: the Reds will go all out to defend their title.

“I’m enjoying playing every match,” Kane continued. “I’m enjoying the feeling, I’m enjoying playing for this great football club. There are plenty of games left.
“I’m hoping I break 30 [goals] for sure. We just have to take it game by game. We have a little bit of a break, a week’s break now. Then, try and do the same next week. As the striker in the team, of course people expect me to score goals so hopefully I can deliver.”
